I can say that the games will have 26-30 NON-LINEAR missions. Meaning you'll probably play through 10-12 and then beat single player.
I said something along this in another topic.
And I was just thinking, combined with the fact that, if they are expansion and not mostly just mission disks (cost difference?), we are getting screwed over :). SC and BW each had around 30 missions, did they not? So getting a game with only 10-15 play through missions one on side at a time is pretty weak comparatively.
Hopefully the non-linear stuff is a bit merged so it's more like 35 missions, at least 25 in one play through.

I don't see blizzard innovating anything. I just see rehashed, profit driven games. The only thing Blizzard really excels at is their map editors which lead to REAL fun UMS. Other map editors tend to be really unfriendly and have a huge learning curve and no ability for UMS. And that is why we are here, on this site, am I right? So F the campaign BS, the editor will be awesome, we will have lots of fun.

Thanks to people like you, this is why developers are starting to shift to shitty consoles instead of quality pc games.
Modding the 360 is easier than the original, just connect a cord to a PC. Or so I've read :).

Damn straight, #1 thing I'm looking forward to in SC2 is the editor. #2 is progaming and #3 is the story (I really want old Blizzard to finish the story but they don't exist anymore so there's no chance of that).

Yep.

I could care less about the campaign...as long as I know the whole story. Battle.net is the main point of the game for me.

towards not buying SC2...ill stick with SC1
reason: cost and it looks more and more like WoW which i have never played due to suckiness.
1. It's nothing like WoW
2. How can you say WoW sucks when you have not even played it.

Hello

ive just read that
only players with the maingame can play with players who also have only the maingame,
only players with the exp#1 can play with players who also have only the exp#1,
only players with the exp#2 can play with players who also have only the exp#2,

thats total shit.... the biggest shit i've ever seen... omg

my suggestion is, that sc2 should be send as only one game with 90 [all races] single player missions....

Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.

It'd be very interesting to know how the original makers intended it to end.

I'll buy one and torrent the rest, it's a bit ridiculous to expect me to buy 2 other games just so I can see the entire campaign.

Oh the hypocrisy from the hardcore Christians. Disgusting.

Why don't you actually wait and see what they're going to make before deciding that. You have absolutely no idea what the other two games will contain and you're already saying you're going to pirate them. When has blizzard wronged you? Never.

Comeon. You played starcraft for 10 years now, I think you got more than your moneys worth now, you somehow think you won't for SC2? Geez.

While I have enjoyed the game, I feel that if I'm still paying fifty dollars, and it's not like I'm actually stealing anything they made, just copying, so while it's not helping them, it doesn't hurt them either.

Not to mention, I figure they have all the money they need from WoW, there's no need to be charging so much. If all three are fifty dollars, I will torrent the other two, however, if there becomes a way to just buy the campaign part for cheaper, I'll buy it, but my guess is they will charge full price.

If they are selling it and you are taking it for free, you are stealing it. Thief. Disgusting.

Chuiu, in the other topic, said that they might have features on Battle.net that cost money. Discuss.

That was IskatuMesk. I honestly doubt they will and it will be a huge mistake if they do.

EDIT: Then again I could be wrong:

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/blizzards-wilson-some-battle-net-features-to-be-monetized/

"We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features," said Wilson. "We kind of have to."

BULL. SHIT. Blizzard is milking us for even MORE money.

Quote from Echo
Blizzard is trying to fucking milk us! They are already making a lot of money from WoW. They probably are also avoiding some taxes through p2p subjects.

No one is forcing you to buy it. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I, on the other hand, will be enjoying StarCraft II.

Buy One Game. Find another person that has bought all games.
Extract Campaign Files.
Add.
WTF?

I'm guessing they will add protective measures against this. And you're promoting stealing.

Trust me, they aren't hurt for money. (WoW)

It is not your place to decide how much money they should or should not receive for their work. And how much money they already have is irrelevant.

Blizzard wronged me when they decided to put sc on the shelf for 10 years. They wronged me when they patched euds. They wronged me when they released 1.15.3 w/o bothering to fix zerg mineral hack. They wronged me when they splitup b.net. They wronged me when they canceled ghost. They wronged me when they snubbed sen/maplantis from Q&A's. They wronged me when they threw out the original SC team. They wronged me when they threw out the D2 team. They wronged me.

You're wrong. It's not an injustice to not create another new game for a long period of time. Sure you might not like it, but they certainly did not wrong you in any way. They didn't have to create StarCraft in the first place. Next is EUDs. Those weren't part of the original intention of the game, and EUD actions were potentially dangerous. Again, they did not wrong you. They also never guaranteed that they would patch every exploit in StarCraft. You wrongly expect them to do everything for you. They never promised to keep Battle.net as one. I don't know why they split Battle.net up, but regardless of their reasoning, it was their decision to make. Nothing wrong there. Basically, you had no stock in any of the things you listed, and all of those were their decisions to make. They did nothing wrong, you're just throwing a temper tantrum.

Quote from marxel
Blizzard is seriously shitting us. But like others said, this IS StarCraft; This may actually be the first game that I will buy a legitimate copy of. All of the games I have on my PC are either freeware or pirated

You should be locked up with the rest of the thieves. You're no better than them. It doesn't matter if what you stole was physical or electronic. You're still a thief.

Quote from Arvendragon
At least they're still working. Every PC Game Blizzard made was good. I'll probably dl SCII first and if it's good I'll buy it. :D

You thieves are running rampant.

So having less money makes it okay to steal?

Yes. If someone stole bread to food to feed his family, with the right circumstances, I would see that as okay. I do realize this doesn't really relate :).

No more discussion about stealing starcraft. Some of you are even promoting it. It is against SEN rules.
And you all lie anyways. I know you will buy the game.

Where have you been? They're taking the campaign and splitting into three pieces. They don't need to do this, and they can get the entire campaign done and have it released next year, but they are anyway because they want more money. And they were gambling on gullible people like you believing they need to. Just like they got gullible people like you to pay a monthly subscription to play a game that doesn't need one.

I'm also against this because they're changing the way they're doing their RTS's. If we let them get away with doing this in SC2 who know what they're going to do with their future titles. Warcraft 4: Humans, Warcraft 4: Orcs, Warcraft 4: Elves, etc. I don't like the idea of having to wait a year or more to get the rest of the story when it was delivered to me in a normal fashion in their previous titles (Warcraft, Warcraft 2 and Expansion, Starcraft and Expansion, Warcraft 3 and Expansion).

Blizzard is nothing more than another greedy corporation to me now. And I might start treating them as such unless they get their act strait.

Being greedy and being a thief are completely different. The whole point of a corporation is to make money. If they start charging so much that they lose more money off people not buying it than they make off charging more, then it's not a wise decision. Otherwise it is. The point of Blizzard is to make money, not to make you happy. You can cry all you want about it, but they can charge whatever they want for their creations (and it's not stealing). I am not the gullible, I just have no problem paying more for StarCraft. I've paid like $20 for 10 years worth of play for the original StarCraft; I'm assuming I'll play SC2 for just as long, if I continue gaming.

Until we actually see the campaigns, I'm going to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt.
It sounds like they are doing something awesome with the tidbits of information. Kinda like a merge between your basic RTS storyline with conquer the world type attributes. With awesome movies.
I do agree Blizzard seems to be going for profit rather than passion though.

Oct 19 2008, 12:33 am BeDazed Post #77

Sometimes companies make open source programs. And sometimes they make free software that's not open source.

There's more than one way to make money and releasing an free or open source program can boost sales by showing people what your company is capable of.
