It's kind of hard to see the picture with the grid there. The grid also makes blockiness less apparent.

Sorry my sister always says that. Short for seriously.

I personally dislike this idea of just dumping terrain into the Hall of Fame, it really should be interesting and innovative (and most importantly, GOOD looking) pieces. It also shouldn't be ranked (especially since the ranking in here seems to do more with the amount of terrain, even if some of the stuff is really good).

People shouldn't be submitting their first blends to this.

An inspiration of the Space and Installation staircase.

The Outpost one on the Ice Tileset is a pain in the ass to develop.

Sorry, the biggest problem is that this was started by lil-inferno as just a Terrain Ladder, so I kinda just kept it in the same mood, I'll go through one of these days and remove all the lesser pieces, and I admit, that one blend has already been done, without having to use sprite to cover it up, so I probably won't add it. Also, about the amount comment, in the main topic, I clearly state that it's both quality and quantity, sticky is near the top because he has been producing some pretty cool pieces, and he has tons as well(though I admit that last one was iffy..) the main reason you aren't so high up, is because the only piece of yours that truly impresses me is the Ancient Waterway, the others are just meh, or sprite infested.

So, I'll ask other members, do you want to be a bit more strict? How should I decide, like, should it blend nearly seamlessly, or are a few blocks allowed, please provide a bit of input. Also, could you guys, on the larger pieces, try to clutter them up a bit more? I hate empty pieces, even if they have a good blend in them(as you can see from my pieces).

KrayZee, good job on that one, it's a bit blocky, and depending on what other members think of my rating, it may be removed, so it makes a good example of the kind of strictness I'm talking about, so tell me if you think it's a bit much, or what, I'll add it for the moment though.

I vote more strict. I also agree with wil on this one, it sucks that someone can jack a bunch of fairly decent concepts, throw together tons of crappy stuff and be higher than a true terrain professional. Not saying I'm professional, but wil's gotta be at least top 3.

Actually, I disagree there, he has only submitted 7 pieces, and only 1 of which TRULY impresses me, about 2 of them are unimpressive, and the others are just meh. The people near the top right now have submitted quite a few original and awesome pieces.

:payne:

Personally, I don't think LoveLess shall be "that" high :O
Most of his pieces are only normal scenes of one of his map.
Anyway, it's up to you! :P
Oh! And I vote for more strict!
Criterias:
- Blockyness accepted only if CONCEPTUAL
- Sprites accepted only if not abused
- Innovative terrain must be rated higher than a good mix of known blends
- Blends > Concepts

As already mentioned:
-Get rid of places. Why is ZergBlender, for example, on the 14th place? And why is Wilhelm so low? Inferno gave me the 4th place (yeah, I know I'm on the 5th now) out of the blue, even though there are others that deserve it much more.
-Accept only pieces that deserve it: original, aesthetically pleasing, sprite-free (or the less sprites the better)

Then it would be a need of sprites, and none of my terrain in the Hall of Fame ever used a single sprite.

For this hall of fame, it should be original obviously, and usually have little or no blockiness. Sprites should also not be used to cover up blockiness because we need blends, not some piece of crap blocks covered by something. Also, it should not be based on quantity either. It should be based on the quality of each terrain piece one has submitted. And I have a feeling that I'm just being redundant. :bleh:

Jul 17 2008, 11:40 pm stickynote Post #236

I think you should be more strict. A lot of my earlier stuff was pretty crappy. As payne said, blockiness should only be accepted if it is conceptual. Otherwise, only a little blockiness should be allowed. Sprites should be only used to cover up blockiness, unless it is part of the concept. <--- (almost never) Maybe working in tilesets other than jungle and badlands deserve higher status, and jungle pieces should be judged more harshly?

It's a nice try for your first blend ever, yet the grass bridge is very blocky. I love that you tried to blend it with the temple stairs though. I can see you are trying to be original. As for the oil rig, I only see a couple of problems that could be easily fixed.

Jul 18 2008, 1:59 am KrayZee Post #239

No, it cannot be fixed. I also happen to make sure to have all of the blue wires connect.

Sorry for my erroneous statement then. It just seems like it could be fixed. :D
