Look, we are discussing "What is the worst sin".
Sin is described in the

I was only mocking everybody's methods of debate.
The worst sin is clearly an opinion. IMO, it's shitting on a dead baby. The end.

I was just giving you the chance to provide an actual meaningful definition of the word before I would proceed to tear it apart. Anyway, I'll just do it to the dictionary definition.

How about you read the topic title. This is not a religious discussion.

Dictionaries are often incomplete, archaic, or just plain wrong. On the first two points, you must remember that language is constantly changing, new words are invented as old words fall out of use. An example of how a dictionary can be flat out wrong is with the word 'atheist', the dictionary definition(merriam-webster), is "One who believes that there is no deity", when the definition used by more than 90% of self proclaimed atheists reads, "One that is not theist."
Belief(no god)
no(belief god)
The very word belief carries an implication of faith, and you will be hard pressed to find many atheists that fit the m-w definition.
But this ambiguity is trivial when you compare it to common definitions of morality. Morality exists because of humans, it is emergent in our interactions. At an individual level, morality loses much of it's meaning, as any individual will tend to act in it's own best interest. Humans are tribal in nature, and while most act morally within their social group(under the influence of reciprocation) they are perfectly content to screw outsiders over. Therefore I contend that morality is confined to the interactions of small social groups, each with a different set of rules, and different worst sin.

Dear Merrell:
I already made fun of it, but reinforced my sarcasm with a point.
Dear Devilesk:
Apparently you missed what I wrote.
Dear Dapperdan:
Define "define". =oP
Dear everyone:
I'm seeing way too many of those define questions around here. It's like lazy arguing. Repeated enough, it just becomes ridiculous and tiresome.
I believe the words people are searching for are
"moral relativism" and
"value judgement".
In any case, it's not the issue of
defining a word someone uses that I brought up, rather the repetitious simplicity of the question's structure.
Stop baiting and
put more of your thoughts behind that one-liner.
Explain why you have to ask in the first place. It helps lessen the feeling of hostility, yo.
You are dragging this thread down in what has now become spam, and I for one am tired of seeing threads being needlessly locked because of the actions of a few individuals.
Dear Syphon:
You are just feeding the fire, unfortunately. I don't want to see more threads locked. No offense, but locking indicates a failure of moderatorship when the thread's subject is still viable.

The word society is not vague. Devilesk is being pedantic.
Anyways Dan, I unlocked this because no one is spamming... We're going off on a tangent, but so long as everyone talks about the same thing it's still a topic and we're still on it.
None.
Anyways Syphon, I pm'ed Tuxlar about having the topic reopened, telling him to reply if he wanted me to open it (with intentions of keeping it on topic), and he didn't send me a pm back. So this topic deserved to stay locked.
It's still a topic and we're still on it, but it's way off-topic, and it's not much of a topic at all anyways. It's just people bitching about others asking people to define things, simply because they can't grasp the concept, even after the reason is given for why someone asked a 'define' question.

I've already got my question mostly answered, so I don't really care either way. But you and devilesk brought the initial negativity here yourselves. I don't think it's fair to do that then turn around and say "
Look! The topic has gone downhill! See everyone? Tiem to close it nao!".
I'd just say leave it open if anyone has any more insight on a/the worst sin, just in case. Let it die off naturally if not.

You're a liar. Quotes plz.
I don't think it's fair to do that then turn around and say "Look! The topic has gone downhill! See everyone? Tiem to close it nao!".
The topic went downhill because of all the people who didn't want to stay on topic and didn't want to add anything to the discussion. And it wasn't like that at all. Apparently I have to post the pm I sent you in the topic or else it'll seem like I never sent it to you:
The topic lock I just performed may only be temporary. However, the only way I'll allow it to open back up is if you desire to make a post reviving the topic and make sure people actually stay on-topic. After that the topic will have an extra close eye on it. Send me a pm when you're ready to post it in, that is, if you even wish to keep the topic going.
I decided to close it for now because it's just ridiculous and I didn't want it to get any further out of hand.
I'd just say leave it open if anyone has any more insight on a/the worst sin, just in case. Let it die off naturally if not.
If you really cared about the topic you would have pm'd me back instead of just posting publicly to make me out to be the one in the wrong. Cut the bullshit.

Do what you like.
Topics fall apart when undue negativity starts to appear. You know perfectly well what posts I'm referring to. So basically, it really is up to you if this would have a chance to meaningfully continue or not.
None.
You're a liar. Quotes PLZ. I shouldn't have to put up with this bullshit. If you're going to make accuasations, then back them up.
There's your quote. Among others.
Just go ahead and close the thread if you really want to that badly.

You said we brought the 'initial' negativity. That quote does you no good. You're just being a smartass. I never showed that I wanted to close the thread so badly, but I apparently I have to now. You've already said you could care less if the topic got locked, because you had your questions answered already. In addition, you continue to shit on the topic like this. For all I know, you're trying to get this topic locked on purpose. You're basically just going, "
My questions have been answered, so therefore I don't care what happens to the topic, and I'll continue to just keep shitting on it." This topic would have stayed on topic, undoubtedly, if you hadn't made any of the posts you have after the topic was repopened. By the way, your last sentence just further proves my point that you want this topic locked.
