How are you so sure your spaghetti monster was so perfect orginally, and that translation is entirely to blame?

How are you sure he's wrong? Mistranslations in the bible are all over the place, and most people's bibles don't have anything to point it out.

The other problem is that people are taking it literally, such as the passage in Genesis where it says to marry your brother's wife if he dies, nowadays, that really should be interpreted as care for your brother's wife, if he dies, but back then, marryiage was the best way to care for them.

Well actually the new testiments ended some of the stuff in the old testament. (Such as the sabbath)

I think your wrong in your interpretation that it just means to care for your brothers wife. God wanted Onan not only to fuck his borther's wife, but to also have kids with her. Anything less would anger god to such a degree that he would be driven to kill Onan(which he did).

And the bible is really ambiguous to what is and isn't carried over from the old testament to the new.

There are a lot of places in the Bible where there are ambiguities, especially when we talk about it during our bible studies. Some passages can have completely different meanings when people have different interpretations. However, it's stuff that none of the anti-bible websites point out (because these sites only point out minor details or wordings in the Bible and not necessarily the meanings of the teachings taught by Jesus or anyone.) It's not that I'd call them "contradictions," it's just that I wish these authors (or Jesus himself) would come back and clear up some minor confusions.

Mar 12 2008, 10:54 pm Akar Post #206

Through careful study we can clear up these confusions. Thats why I asked him for one, I've studied the bible heavily and have cleared up most of these "minor confusions." What you have to do is take clear verses and compare them to the murky ones that are contradictory. And sometimes going back to ancient greek words helps understanding. Like Joseph was a carpenter it says, but when going back to ancient Greek he was a tekton, which is better translated artisan. And since many buildings weren't built out of wood like that of Europe, they were built out of stone. It is highly probable that he wasn't a carpenter but rather a stone mason.

Oh boy...

There are several different administrations, each with their own characteristics. You see, God is fair, and plays by the rules.
Let me blow your mind for a second here. In the bible seven different administrations are described:
1. Original Paradise
2. Patriarchal
3. Law
4. Christ, or Gospel
5. Grace, or Church
6. Appearing, or Revelation
7. Final Paradise, or Glory.
The old testement contains the first three; original paradise, patriarchal, and law. I'm assuming that you're talking about law because that makes up 85% of the old testement. This administration starts after Moses went up on Mount Sinai and got the ten commandments and lasts until Christ's birth. Having said that I can now continue. Whenever the phrase, "God did [insert bad act here]" it really meant that God let it happen. In the law administration God, according to the rules, could only protect the ones who obeyed him. And they (humans) had no knowledge of the devil in this administration or before it. So it says God let it happen, not that he actually did it. God isn't evil at all, as stated in; I john 1:5, Pslams 34:8; 107:8, and it says he doesn't change (Malachi 3:6).

Mar 15 2008, 2:16 am Syphon Post #210

I'm talking about the fact that in the Old Testement, God is willing to drop everything and smite who he may, and he did NOTHING in the New Testement. It's like he suddenly stopped existed. (Lol wut?)

God playing by rules 100% denies His existence as an omnipotent being. He plays by the rules in the Bible, the Bible states He is omnipotent. LOL WUT?

Omnipotent just means unlimited in power. Just because he has unlimited power doesn't mean he will use it. He isn't human, so you can't say that what he is doing isn't logical, because to him it might be.

In the new testament Jesus redeemed mankind and most old testament laws didn't apply anymore, because in the grace administration we are cleansed from the unforgivable sin (the one committed by Adam and Eve) because Jesus Christ already paid for it. Also it says we can commit the acts that Jesus did because we have (when born again of the Holy Spirit), "God in christ in you." so Jesus was our bridge to God, and now we can be redeemed for ANY sin and "greater than these (works) shall you do." Which means technically if you're born again of the holy spirit you can cure sick, cast out devils, and even ressurect the dead, given revelation from God (God gives you the ok to do it) and your believing is strong enough.

Here's some real hard evidence. Call if coincidence if you may. Mars is a representation of the archangel Michael, the warrior. Right after 9/11 Mars was very bright for a few months. Also, it just so happens that biblically speaking Jesus's birthday is in the fall and not the winter (Christmas is a result from the Roman Emperor Constantine mixing pagan and Christian concepts). And highly probable that he was born on 9/11. Ironically the same date that an unfortunate event happened. Propelled by an act of the devil perhaps?

Not that I'm telling you you're wrong, but that the true Christian God is a loving one. Not the holy trinity, not flip flopping. As my verses above state it is that "he is all light and in him is no darkness at all" and that he is never changing.
This wouldn't be such a big debate if it hasn't of been derived so far from its original context. The bible itself doesn't contradict itself. It is the people's interpretations that do. Reading the bible isn't a matter of simply reading it. You have to study it, you have to understand customs and cultures from whence it was written - so you can read it like it is and not base it off of your own interpretations. I don't mind that atheists don't believe in God. I mind it that they denounce the bible as false without understanding it. It is like saying Einstein's theory of General Relativity is false without knowing much about it.

Laws God said always would apply didn't apply anymore? Lol wut contradiction.

And Adam didn't commit any sin, why was he kicked out of the garden of Eden if God was omniscient? Lol wut.

"Mars" the word is a representation of Ares, the 2nd generation Greek Olympic God of War. Mars the planet is a representation of iron II oxide. Biblically speaking, Jesus's birthday was in the spring . April or May. It's impossible he was born on 9/11. I just lost any respect for you I could ever get.

The Bible itself does contradict itself, but like all holy books, people interpret the passages as far out of context as they want to make them mean whatever currently suites their motives. I clearly understand the Bible, I've probably read it more times than you ever will, cover to cover. It is nothing like saying the theory of general relativity is false, in that general relativity was created through careful observation and testing, and the Bible was written by a bunch of lunatics in caves who thought they had divine inspiration. And what about the books of the Bible that the Vatican omits? If the Bible is good and true for the Christian nation then why are parts of it withheld by the man closest with the Christian God? If the many hundreds of books of testaments to Christ contradict each other -- even slightly, as they do, how can you know which one is right? You can't. So you must assume all are wrong. The same goes for religion, if they all contradict each other you must assume they are all wrong, or go on blind faith, and have a 0.00001% chance of getting it right. (Hint-- Mormonism.)

1. he never said always

2. Adam DID commit the sin, eve lured him into it.

3. Harvest time isn't around the spring :)

4. You've read the bible more than I, which makes you more of an expert? I find that hard to believe since I spend several hours every Sunday studying it. Not to mention the numerous classes I have taken from different denominations about it.

5. The big bang theory contradicts itself, therefore it is all wrong. Oh you just contradicted yourself, therefore anything you have and will say will forever be wrong.

6. I've already explained why they don't contradict each other, however, your only argument is that you've read it more than I.

The pope is so full of shit and stupidity that he deserves to be slapped in the face. He takes the bible into his own interpretation and adds several things on whim - even if they conflict with his faith. Several biblical myths:
1. Jesus was born in the winter, he wasn't, he was born around harvest time if you study the bible.
2. Holy water is holy, it isn't. It is just water
3. a cross is holy, it isn't. It is just a cross, it has no spiritual significance.
4. God kills people and hates. This dead wrong, I've already explained that it is stated clearly that he is all good and never changing. Again go back to the greek text.
5. Only roman catholics can go to heaven. This is completely wrong in two ways; heaven doesn't exist, and you don't have to be in a any sort of church to be saved, you just have to not do bad works or be born again of the Holy Spirit.
6. If you aren't good than you'll go to hell. Hell doesn't exist, it is some weird damn thing that some idiots made up to scare people. Hell comes from the several greek and hebrew words. Most of these refer to death.
7. There is life beyond death. Once you're dead you are dead, until the Revelation administration, which is after the one we're in now.

He did know he was doing something wrong, and he did it anyway. Haven't you ever done something wrong because the rest of your friends were? You knew you were doing something wrong and yet you did it anyway.

Which part? Because the city of Bethlehem happened to be in a temperate climate with good rainfall. Same as most places here in the united states, and it got down to 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter.

I have complete biblical proof that I'm correct on this subject, while you simply spew out, "You're an idiot!" Which isn't an argument. I suggest you post something more substantial.
The big bang theory does contradict itself because it needs the general theory of relativity to work yet makes it invalid at the same time. Also redshifts wouldn't be allowed to exist then. - This isn't about the flaws in the big bang theory though.

You can't use a piece of fucking fiction to prove your point. You are entirely ignorant on the Big Bang and the Doppler effect. You rely on lies, stupidity, and ignorance to fuel your charade while Syphon uses logic and reason.
