I was having a beer in a bar. It was in the nice part of town; I didn’t want to get killed by some psychopath in the slums, you know? Anyways, this guy entered the bar and sat down next to me. I can’t really remember what he looked like. All I know is that he had a pretty innocent face. Or maybe it was a sinister face. He asked the bartender for a glass with just ice; no drink or anything. The bartender gave him the glass, and the guy put it up to the side of his head. I looked over and saw a pretty big gash right above his neck. I think it was like two, no, maybe three inches long or something. I asked him what happened; he said that he had been hit in the back of the head with something in the middle of the night. He said that he couldn’t believe he wasn’t dead. I looked out of the window and saw that the sun was already rising.

I decided to leave because I thought I was incredibly late for something. Turns out I was early by about four hours. I walked around the city a little bit. Things were getting tense. Everyone was installing cameras around their stores, signs were being put up that prohibited any sort of hats or large jackets being worn inside the shops, and the useless cops were on every street. It was a few hours before noon, and a large stage was being built in the center of the town. A few people were standing around waiting to see what was going on, but I couldn’t stay too long. Now I was really late.

I walked down a few blocks, making a left turn here, a right turn there. I came to an alley and walked to the end of it and knocked on the door. It opened and I walked in; the building was dimly lit. A few guys were standing around. I think it maybe two or three others. Well, maybe it was more like seven or eight. There was a small TV on a table; it was showing live coverage of the town center. A bunch of people were beginning to gather there, and the police chief was getting ready to talk. One of the guys around me opened a door that led to a dark room, and we all went in.
