Okay my map's nearly ready for it's official release, but there's a major problem. Players keep randomly dropping from the game due to "freezes". I'm guessing it's a problem with my triggering, maybe too many triggers being fired at once? I'm not sure. Does anyone know what this might be?

Are you perhaps accidentally playing a .wav repeatedly? (It wouldn't sound like the .wav) What do you mean by it "freezes"?

this has happened to me. the game literally freezes as in nothing moves, you cant even move your mouse. i've also seen this happen to other people, from an outside perspective the lag box just pops up as if they dced. another symptom is when you try to alt-tab out (on my computer at least) the resolution stays at 640x480 until you alt-ctrl-delete and kill starcraft.

Hello

I'd like to leave this here.
I've experienced the same quite often when playing Dungeon Escape last week, a map I've played thousands of time, on windows XP without any problems, ever.
It never froze or something.
But now, with Win7, estimated every second attempt freezes the game, as in total lockdown. You can not even tab out.
This might be an overall problem of starcraft 1.

Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.

I found the solution. Open up Notepad and copy and paste the following:

taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
C:\"Program Files"\"StarCraft"\"Starcraft.exe"
start explorer.exe

Then save this as a .bat file. Double click it, this will run Starcraft and you won't freeze.

EDIT: On second thoughts, I think you two might be referring to 2 different problems. Zacharee, does it freeze your entire system? Do you have to restart your comp?

EDIT: Also I've found that it's best to close all other programs whilst you have Starcraft running in Windows 7.

If you use ChaosLauncher, you'll rarely ever experience the problems you run into when trying to run Starcraft.exe on Windows 7. It completely fixes the color problem, and it never crashes randomly.

So the crashes are nothing to do with the triggers?

No idea, but if the game runs better when no programs are running the background, I know that's because full-screen starcraft is crap on Windows 7, and ChaosLauncher fixes all of the compatibility issues that you'd encounter with Starcraft.exe.

not a total freeze, the starcraft task just stops responding, inside the game everything including the curser freezes. you can alt-tab but the resolution seems to be stuck at 640x480 until you kill the starcraft task, although this my be a symptom specific to my machine.

edit - for me this is the only map that gives me this problem, which seems to imply that its a problem with the map or at least a combination of that and bugs in starcraft itself

for the record, in reply to your message: the game simply freezes, it doesn't crash and exit. the only way to exit the game is to end the starcraft task
