Ahli, you'll be happy to know that, I've found another issue, that surely need to be fixed.

Guardian's fire dmg actually show your current firebolt dmg *screenshots*
I kinda got exited when I saw my guardian lvl 1 doing 129-202 dmg... I dunno why o.O

Althought, I tested it in Catacomb lvl 4 (I was book hunting) and it was basicly 2-3 hitting units. I got disapointed, somehow...


Edit: And when I upgrade guardians, it doesn't increase dmg. it is now lvl 3 thought.

Actually Sakuckoinvius, this IS how the guardian spell was meant to function. Although based on what you have said as well as my own personal experience with using the spell itself, is that it indeed does not use the firebolt spells damage properly and instead appears to use some other damage value that is not listed on the spell. However even if he fixed it to use the firebolts damage values, it would not increase the damage it deals based on higher spell levels because all it increased in vanilla Diablo was one damage point minimum and maximum per spell level above the base level. Hope this info was somewhat helpful for you. :unsure:

My only real issue with the spell itself is that it seems to cost far too many mana points by comparison to other much cheaper spells that offer much more immediate results for around half the cost if not less than the cost it would require to cast even a single guardian spell. I believe that it might be wiser to increase it by only 1 mana point per spell level instead of the 2 that it is increasing now. Secondly, it seems like you felt that the 2 mana point increase was justified due to the 2 second duration increase per spell level on the spell. The main problem with this is that unless you are fighting a monster with a ton of hp and you just don't have a better fire spell to use on it,(highly unlikely at that point), then you are usually not going to be in the same area long enough to even fully use the duration that the spell gives at higher spell levels. :-_-:

Don't get me wrong, I think that guardian could be an awesome spell, but I think it needs a little more tweaking before people would be tempted to use it in regular situations. Also I would like to address another issue but I may have brought it up before. It feels like there are a ton of fire based spells and a shortage of other element based spells. I know that this is mostly due to the fact that the original Diablo had a ton of fire spells and not many others, it could be just that we seem to be missing the "blood star" spell. Would it be possible to implement that spell given the limitation of only having up to caves level 4? Perhaps a rare special quest from adria or a rare drop that only succubus can give? :???:

P.S. Forgot to mention in my monster spawn thing that I believe that it might be a nice addition to have a second rare monster be able to appear if there are 3-4 players in the game as well as the higher spawn rate. :D

P.P.S. I had a rather silly idea but figured I would share it anyways here. I was thinking it might be cool if people posted screenshots of some of the best gear they have found/crafted/gambled etc just to see some of the awesome things you guys have found while playing this map! ^^ Of course Ahli would have to approve of this and would probably know what would be the best item in the map anyway. But I think it could be interesting to see what all people have found. :D I would post the stuff from my original character on here but of course it was from the old version that Payne was hosting, since that version is gone and I cannot load those characters, I suppose I will be limited to showing anything new I find that I believe is worthy of posting here. :)

P.P.P.S. Bah, keep thinking of things to add after I finish editing my post... Really hope I don't get in trouble for this... Anyway I was thinking why not have charged bolt, lightning, and chain lightning all share synergy damage bonuses similar to Diablo 2? Or if you don't like that, then maybe have just lightning and chain lightning share synergy damage bonuses. I also believe that firebolt and fireball should both share synergy damage bonuses, and possibly fire wall and flame wave. But these are just my personal opinions on this. Also if you do decide to put in Blood Star or "Arcane Star" as it is called in The Hell, I believe it might be interesting to allow a small synergy bonus from holy bolt as it has base magic properties, or possibly flash? :unsure:

hello i started to play this again tho was insanely depressed that i had to give up my lvl 25 warrior because the re released version did not support the old banks :( so i started a mage and dam they are much funner then swinging a sword for hours :D

for game issuesand or general dislikes
1.some items appear in red like you cant use them when you can i have seen this with some books and other people mentioned other items to
2.even if it was like this in the original game it bothers me rogues and warriors can use magic it really kills the difference in play style when characters don't have their own thing going for them that others cant use.
3.maybe its just me but way to many monsters have protection form magic damage making flash which is already pretty weak imo feel rather useless :(
4.i don't know what triggered it after using a mana potion i think the blue mana backround changed into a picture of raynors engineer o.o

other then those minor things this imo is the best sc2 map that is and probably will ever be made...

Questions
1.is their currently a stat/and or lvl cap?
2.how many spells are their currently for the mage i have 14-15 :3 im greedy so if theirs more that i have not unlocked yet i want them :D
3.will hell and or the area in the catacomes(forgot exact name) bones ???? be made?im not expecting it soon ill be content with anything thats done to improve this even farther :D

I think it would be a screenshot spam. I doubt he'll agree on that. Although, if we list the items stats, it might be accepted easily. We all know though, that best items for sorcerer always been full magic and then, fastest hit recovery, fastest block rate and full resist. Other than that, getting some str item to get more defense. For warrior and rogue, it depend how you build it, I like gemming my rogue's weapon. ;).

1. The item itself or the background of it, cuz I've been playing this for over 30 hours now, and I've never run into red item problem. It always appear with red background thought, just like Diablo1 if I remember well.
2. I always agreed with that, Althought, I love how, in this, 255 magic isn't the current maximum to learn spells. By example, I need 364 magic to learn my next charged bolt lvl. I'm affraid not to reach it, even if i'm at 330 so far, at lvl 28.
3. I 100% agree with both states there, flash is weak and there are way to many magic immune, Magic resist would be alot better, in my opinion.
4. that is indeed similar to something I posted earlier, but for my case, it was a blue mana background (I took a screenshot, from post in page 39)

1. Not sure of stat cap, i'd guess 255, for lvl, current maximum is 34 (+4 if you farm rare in cave 4 for years)
2. You probly have all the easy found one. Fireball, guardians, nova, mana shield, flame wave, chain lightning exist, but surely hard to find, since there is no books or rarely in caves.
3. The fact that these zones (Chamber of bone, Hell, Lazarus lvl)) aren't made is due to a lack of room in the map. Until Ahli figure out a way to increase it, they won't be created. So far he's working on bugs and adding spells and possibly a PvP function.

Actually the Level Maximum for the map has been confirmed by Ahli as 76, posted on page 39 about halfway down. And of course for maximum level based on current limitations, 38. As for stat maximum, I do not believe Ahli has mentioned a real stat maximum but I would also guess base stat as being possible 255 max. Also something else you guys may not know: it is possible to get +50 on a single stat per item you wear. This means that it is possible to achieve +350 magic just from items alone, not even counting your magic stat base. Of course this requires insanely lucky rolls on rare items as well as having no curses that reduce the magic stat and having both a wizardry and Zodiac stats at perfect rolls per item. :ermm:

Also as far as I know, the flame wave spell seems to only come from buying it from adria. Chain Lightning can be found on catacombs level 4 and possibly 3. The highest spell I have been able to get from adria has been the Golem spell unlocking at either 33 or 34, I think 34. This leads me to believe that the Golem spell is the highest spell you can attain on the map based on current limitations. :(

P.S. Ahli I had some rather strange things occur lately that I was able to get screenshots of. Hopefully you can make sense of these. :ermm:

Screenshot 1: Err what does "safeguard aborting respawn in 11" mean? :wtfage:

Screenshot 2: Both this one and Screenshot 3 demonstrate a similar strange occurrence. As you can see, the game is considering the "of skill" suffix to be a "cursed affix" and affects the price negatively on the greatsword to a large degree. :(

i don't have nova yet looking 4ward to that currently lvl 30 mage/sorcerer :D yet i don't even have 260 magic lol(need better gear boosts :O) and working on getting perfect jewels(gonna take a while)

that really sucked about the map area limitations but i saw it coming :(

screenshot-i had a glitch where i could not repair my crown after i clicked on repair the warning in the bottom right was still their and when i checked my crown was not fixed .1st time it happened and the other is just the spells i have atm[attach=9171][attach=9172]

Well the reason why your crown was not repaired is because it has a curse affix. If you notice in the upper right hand of the tool-tip box for the item, it has a weird demon looking symbol next to the name. This indicates that the item is cursed. This can be quite helpful if the curse is on a stat that the item is already giving but it just happens to lower the value rather than turn it into a penalty. In your case the item gives e penalty of +2 damage taken from enemies, colored in red. TLDR: Grizwold will not repair any cursed items that have durability damage. :(

I believe that the reason why he won't is possibly due to the demonic aura or influence that may be on the item that he would want no part of. Or Ahli just figured that it would be easier/less triggers needed to just not allow them to be repaired. The other thing is if he was to allow them to be repaired, some curses might actually lower the repair cost of a normally expensive item. Because as far as I know, an items repair cost is directly related to the items total value. Considering that some penalties aren't that bad, this would be an easy way of lowering the cost associated with repairing such an item. ^^

"of Skill" received a wrong multiplier when I transfered the code from GUI to custom script. I just fixed that. Thanks for the report. :) The transfer allows me to faster change/add values in future as the editor isn't the fastest, if I do everything with the graphical trigger interface. Negative multipliers indicate that the affix is cursed. The multiplier is used for the factor that determines how much of the base item's value is multiplied with in the item's value.

That's my warning message for the monster respawn not finding a suitable location with a good distance to the hero within 15 attempts. I alter it to 30 attempts to find a random suitable spawn point and make it count, if it fails. A dungeon has 18 spawnpoints and a random one is selected to spawn the unit.

You need to be level 42 to be able to have books for Teleport and Nova appearing at Adria.
But they have a chance to appear on staffs pretty early. They can appear on Adria's sold staffs with character level 10 (12+ for highest chance as Adria's 3 staffs have different levels that items can be spawned with). Staffs with that spell can be gambled with level 10, too.

I removed all limitations. You can distribute the points wherever you want.
It would be possible to get 600+ points in one stat if you really focus on it with everything you can put into it. I would gather gear with +magic to be able to read more books. So, yes, +all Attributes and +Stat can roll together and the max points you can have per single item is 50. Then you can add 250 for the max possible value from sockets (= 1handed + large shield, everything with max amount of sockets).

poor cursed helm :( im surprised the butchers Axe or the Kings Crown or Sword(very rare)are not normally cursed.

for the mage the skill mana shield can anyone confirm this works correctly? currently it says i believe that it reduces the damage i take by about 42% so if i take 100 from a attack i should only take about 58 dmg per hit maybe im not paying enough attention but it seems like even on caves 4 you take no dmg while its active.

guardian-as with what SeraphicStar said it costs too much mana(not that i cant use it)to use i was sad when i noticed that upgrading seems to not increase the damage but the time its out for(assuming it does not die) and the mana to cast it :(

but is it selfish to have the mana go down with each upgrade and would doing so cause corruption with the mages banks?

Mana costs aren't saved in the bank. I'm saving the learned spell and the level.

Erm pardon me Shayoko, but what exactly is the "kings sword"? I have never found an item like this before in the map. Unless you are implying that King Leoric also drops a unique sword in addition to his undead crown? If he does I would totally want to find it since I have not found one before yet... :( Of course I doubt it is as good as the thing my warrior currently uses but still would be a cool find I think. :D

Also I believe that either a one increase from a lower base mana cost for the guardian spell per level or a set value across the board of a reasonable amount(say 20-25?) might be better than a lowering mana cost per spell level increase. Especially considering the only spell I know of that decreases in mana cost at higher spell levels is the heal spell, and that spell mostly does that due to the secondary effect of it increasing in cost per character level raised. :ermm:

tho i have very limited knowledge of the map creation tool i have been trying to think of any way to make room for hell but realizing you have most likely thought of everything
so ill just put a idea or 2 out thier

1.are the dungeons loaded the 1st time you go into them?
that is to say originally when you start the game that they do not exist on the "map"?
are the locations for each specific dungeon on the map in set places?(cathedral 1 for example would it always spawn in the top left area or in other words a certain spot on the map)

if they can be loaded i would imagine they can be unloaded and all creeps and items still in that area as well.
if a area was able to be removed during the game then their would be room for hell right?
also if its possible to remove lvls maybe have it on a timer
say on cathedral 1 after their are no longer any players on that floor have a timer 3-5 mins maybe then the floor would be removed along with all creeps and items on it.

examples of maps that do this are shadows of the taldarine and zerg hunter rpg
i do believe i mentioned this b4 and it was rejected but honestly i don't know what the positives are only the negatives of having to reload another game :(

but if it would work could remove all of the other dungeon,keep the bank and have the entrance of hell be some where around the town

It's a prefix granting damage and chance to hit.

I think I might alter the guardian spell. I might just make it scale in its damage, too. Right now each level raises the chance to hit for the firebolts spawned by the guardian. The damage is based on your firebolt level. I might alter that as well to make it less dependent.

Multiple maps create a problem for me whenever I need to update the triggers.

I might end up sacrificing the cathedral for hell levels. This means you would need to retrieve something from the caves to open hell. I won't use timers to swap the dungeons.
I wouldn't have problems when I could alter everything dynamically and save/load fog data in an area and alter the ground textures dynamically (I might be able to do that with a huge splat actor). I remember that I wrote that in orange some pages ago.

But I want to improve the gameplay with skills and add the other missing quests before I tackle hell levels finishing the story. Whenever I'm done with hell levels and its quests, I think I might just add a way for different difficulty settings into the map as this is a smaller addition (except for balancinng that).

The dungeons are created during the 2nd loading screen. They are created and saved in memory and removed again.
If you enter a dungeon, it is loaded from memory again, if the dungeon isn't active already.
If more than 2 dungeons are active and a dungeon hasn't been entered for 2 minutes, it will saved into memory and removed to improve the map's performance.
Whenever a dungeon is loaded/saved, it is shown via the red exclamation marks in the top left corner. This means that the game might lag a bit more during that.

i see sounds like alot of work if only i wasn't so busy with hobbies and other things :( in any case i still really love the map and any fix or addition will make me happy
on which note need to confirm if something works gonna loadup the game and take a few screen shots
this may be a issue with the sapphire unless im misunderstanding something it gives
weapon- +4-7 magic damage
shield- +22% resist magic
other- +24 mana
screenshot 1-showing that i indeed have the correct jewel and what it does having 702 mana
screenshot 2-after i put it into my 2 slot crown rather then increasing by 24 it went up by 5 making it 709
is a crown not considered other?i don't think ive seen neckless or rings with sockets yet[attach=9173][attach=9174]

Rings, Amulets, Helms, and Armor are all considered "other" regarding gem socketing. However I too have noticed that the Sapphire does not seem to give the proper values for socketing in "other" slots. I have yet to test it on every kind of item though to make sure the effects work as shown. As a possible note to showing this kind of change, it might be wise to screenshot the item before the gem and then again after placing the gem to demonstrate that the mana is the only thing changed in the items effects. I also need to do this myself to demonstrate effects if I find ones that aren't properly given. :(

Regarding the sacrifice of the Cathedral levels. Perhaps it might be a good idea when you implement the hell levels or find a way to do them, to give an option to the player upon entering the map. What I mean is it could work similarly to how Night of the Dead works. In Night of the Dead, you select from 3 different "difficulties" that also determines what happens on the map. All players must select the same map to start the game on that map. The other thing is of course you would have to require a minimum level to access Hell Level content. This could also work similar to the difficulty system setup in the original Diablo. Where you would be prevented from entering that "mode" due to a lack of levels. :ermm:

I am unsure where exactly you would have this choice placed considering you said that dungeon creation happens after the first loading screen. Which also leads me to believe that the game doesn't even check your bank files until AFTER the dungeons are already made. The other thing that makes this harder is the fact that you may have one or two characters eligible, but many others that are not high enough on your bank file. P.S. How do you post screenshots directly to SEN? And do I need to shrink the size of the screenshots somehow so they don't take up the full screen unless clicked? :(

when i post the pictures after attaching them i click on other with adds a attach command to the post which makes them appear fully like that other wise they would appear at the bottom of the message like the 1st couple on this page
p.s i don't edit their sizes

2.as for the jewel i did take a screen shot while the sapphire was on the bottom. then the second one after i put it in their may have been some delay tho as looking at how much mana i had(lower number)it went up by 20+ so maybe the jewel instead of giving the max mana you have a +24 it maybe gives the current mana +24 which would be completely pointless :3 gonna go check

it seemed to increase the mana i could use as well as the max mana by 5 as well

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

The numbers in the code for the socket's effective mana addition are wrong. I corrected them now. With the next update that should be fixed.

To post screenshots on SEN, you need to upload the image somewhere and then paste the link into popup window after pessing the "img" button. Then you enter something for the width and for the height. SEN is buggy and sets the width and height to 700|450. You can alter these numbers, if you want, but that's not required.

Updated maps to version 0.405 on all servers.

Ah I see. So that must mean in order to have images actually show as part of the post, I would have to have uploaded the images to photobucket or something in order to use this feature. :unsure:

I also wanted to say thanks for fixing the gold find issue on rare items. That was a really strange thing to come across after making my items rare. :(

I know you may have answered this already but I still would very much like to know. How exactly does the socketed skull effect increase your regeneration rate for life/mana? I know it can't possibly be a direct integer increase to life/mana per regen period since this would obviously be OP. And I know knowing about this wouldn't really change much, just really curious about the effect is all I suppose Ahli. ^^

I was also wondering if it might be at all possible to add in some kind of gem or grant one of the gem types a decent boost for weapons that could be used by Sorcerors? As it stands right now, it doesn't seem like any of the gems increase anything that Sorcerors could possibly benefit from on socketed weapons. I suppose that makes sense considering how powerful they already are, and the weapon sockets are really the only way a physical character can reach even close to Sorceror damage outputs right now. :| I would only propose a minor bonus or something they could use on sockets, say like a 1-2% damage boost to spells or 1-2% faster mana regen per socket maximum? I mostly just don't like having say a 6 socketed weapon on my Sorceror, but nothing worth putting in the sockets for him. :(

was gonna ask since i cant get it to work how do you add avatar(picture on the right which is currently a ?)does it really have to be 20 kb or lower because that's way to low for a picture :(

2.i seem to have wrote the description to do that poorly sorry about that.
i got them to appear in the post like that by clicking on the file text on the bottom of the screen after i added it my post
1.click add attachment
2.select a file
3.files will appear in yellow(i think)text on bottom of message
4.if you do nothing and click post it will be like the top of the page if you left click on them notice it adds a text command to your message {attachment?????]
if that is their then it will appear as a full picture like my above post.

1) On the left you mean? Also remember that there are other formats you can have a picture in that use less space at the cost of quality. Secondly, you also have to remember that uploaded avatar pics can only be a maximum of 125 by 125 pixels. And finally, there are SEN store upgrades you can get for your forum account that actually give you a bit more space to work with regarding picture file size. You can have either +5 or +10 kb more, not sure if these stack or not, but I would not believe so. :unsure:

On a side note, I noticed that your avatar question mark is a rainbow colored one. I was wondering if you somehow bought an effect to get that or that you randomly got it from SEN?

Oh also I wanted to know Ahli, how soon do you think we should expect the addition of other player skills and the skill tree? I am really looking forward to this addition since it will dramatically change how the other 2 classes can play and I believe their damage output as well! :D
