Still Napping

PA is a RTS being developed by Uber Entertainment (even the developer's name is awesome). Frankly I feel the visualization of graphics and UI seem to be spot on for something really, well, awesome. Way better than what Starcraft could ever hope to be.

  • Blow up planets!
  • Robots!
  • Blow up different kinds of planets!
  • Explosions!

Pretty much pure awesome, on all levels. In a nutshell:

Thoughts?

wth is starcraft

It's already got over $1,000,000? I just don't see it. Isn't there a game very similar to this in the Star Wars franchise? I don't see what's so revolutionary. >_<

I guess the graphics are kinda cute.

This to me looks like an updated version of command and conquer.

Voice Actor: The Sniper's a Spy

Well. I love the art style, and the idea of an RTS that's NOT like SC and is all about over the top stuff is really cool, but we'll have to see.
Don't think I need to help donate as it's already reached its goal XD

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

My thoughts? Your OP doesn't tell us anything about the game.
I'm surprised it's compared to sc and c&c because after a few seconds into the video (if you haven't already guessed so by the title) it becomes clear it's very akin to Total Annihilation. Even the terrain has been copied and they also say so repeatedly during the video. But I guess you guys are just too young to remember TA. :P But maybe you remember it's spirital successor, Supreme Commander?

So no, it's not revolutionary. It's already been there last millennium. Waging war across planets is nothing new either, we already know that from Sins of a Solar Empire (which btw. has the best interface of all RTS). But having both planetary and interplanetary battles during the same mission is new. That, I probably gonna like.
If I ever get used to the comic graphic style remains to be seen though.
The music and narrator seem awesome and will create a lot of atmosphere.
Unfortunately, if it's anything like TA, there's not much expect from the story telling side of the game (which sc excelled at). It'll probably be the usual build and destroy with little to no motivation or attachment to characters. (Which doesn't necesarily make it a bad game, when the strategy part is fleshed out enough.)
So I'm curious to see how much of the complex (but awesome) resource and building mechanics they gonna keep. Though I'm afraid they'll dumb it down a lot to cater for their interplanetary battles.
Overall I think if they keep enough of the original TA feel intact I'm gonna enjoy this game. The setting has a lot of potential and can create a good game, even if a lot of that potential will remain untapped.

EDIT: I just read that there will be no campaign unless there'll be much more donations. :/

Ahhh Total Annihilation, I just now remember that game that you mention it. I personally never took to it in my younger years, although I remember my friend playing it on occasion. I remember there actually being a quite a few RTS style games released around those years now that i think of it. A few different versions of Total Annihilation, A few of Command & Conquer, Starcraft, A Few Age of Empires, The settlers, are all that come to mind.

...lol...that seems to be true of a lot of kickstarter campaigns (well any new game really) you always see "new and revolutionary" in their marketing but it is very rarely actually new.

Are you serious?? What the hell are they planning on using the one million dollars on?

Most of it will go to Vegas, plane tickets to Europe, and a yacht. The remaining 1% will be the development budget, spent to purchase ramen noodles and coffee.

Will there be a single player campaign?

Our funding goal is pretty modest for the quality of game we're making. So at that level it will definitely be multi-player focus. Hopefully we blow past that goal and we can unlock some more interesting stretch goals :) Stay tuned!

Cool concept but It's so hard to imagine how it would be actually implemented that it makes me think that when they would release the game, the features the video showed would happen and be possible but the way the game handles them would be really boring or bad though still being true to the video. In the end I feel like the video hypes too much and backing it would make the dissapointment even worse.

I don't like concepts, and the amount they needed has been reached so now no matter what they will get the money that has been offered. Not sure if everyone knew but if the goal is not reached for a project the money is not obtained by the people trying to kickstart their project. I don't think you even get charged until the last day of the kickstarter.

Can't get behind this no matter how cool looking unless I see some sort of ingame footage. Maybe if they and really most kickstarters went the way Overgrowths designer decided to go then it would be a lot easier to back these ideas. Make a alpha game, accept pre orders, and give alpha game with constant updates to the people who pre ordered the game while you work on the main final build.

To be honest I sort of don't even... get the game
