I spent so much time producing this map that I really want to see it get finished. I simply lost the motivation to continue work on it many months ago, and I would love it if somebody would pick it up and complete the map.

I pretty much finished up all of the systems that make up the map; inventories, spells, stats, items, conversations, quests, radiation, and DDS (I actually think I scrapped this... It's still on the map though). I got a good baseline for how the story goes, but I just plain ran out of ideas and began to lose the motivation at that point. So, the story, some bugfixes, minor tweaks here and there, and just filling out the rest of the map is mostly all the work that needs to be done, although it's been awhile, and I may be forgetting a few things.

Anybody and everybody come and take it and work on it. I don't care if I get credit or not whatever. The map is really cool by the way :D

EDIT: I just remembered! The map is running out of locations. That is all.
EDIT2: Oh also, I started using switches because I began running out of death counters to use.
EDIT3: Ahhh, well not really.... It would just get very confusing if you started using the same unit deaths of different players... Whatever...

This is an excellent map Swampfox! You've got some very cool systems, I don't think I've ever heard of the radiation one before. Your conversation options were pretty cool as well. It is a shame you are giving up on this, SEN is having a 2011 RPG Challenge (http://www.staredit.net/topic/13079/0/) and I think your map would be a strong contender if you considered to continue working on it.

With a bit of tweaking I think this map would be an extremely awesome RPG. Some suggestions:
- I notice you preplace enemy units, I believe most RPGs these days have dynamically spawned units on Junk Yard Dog. You should consider doing that.
- I find it hard to believe you have begun running out of death counters, there are millions of them. :P What you should do is write down your DCs in a seperate notepad file, so you don't lose track of them.
- Consider location recycling. Look for locations that are only used once or for small periods at certain parts of the game, and go about using the MOVE LOCATION trigger to continue using them for other sections of the game as well.

Good luck!

I hear that location grids can remove the need for purpose-specific locations, but I have no understanding of them. Using DCs written in a file allows you to remove their names, thereby saving strings. [/tips]

And I already know I don't have the massive balls skill required to work on this. :P I'll have to remember to give it a DL and crack it open to see your systems, though.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I've tried it alone, but I didn't come far. But I already have some improvement tips & things I noticed:

-Put the Heroes' Locations to where they will spawn or just preplace them and you are fine (-> 4 locations freed).
-Nonexisting player units shouldn't be spawned or at least be removed afterwards.
-Create unit errors during Tutorial :S
-What is that Rhynadon about that receives the scarab damage?
-The Radiation Meter should be described. E.g. the player finds a note inside the starting building.
-Leaving the Building without a weapon should result in a message that it may be dangerous outside.
-Stuff that you can't use shouldn't be in the Dropship/Shuttle.
-You can save some locations at the chose fields with a grid of locations (detect that unit is in "horizontal location 1" and "vertical location 2" for second upper thing).
-White text color wasn't good to read in the Tutorial

Oh gosh.... you guys really make me want to make an awesome finished product, but I just don't want to work on the map anymore. It'd be a chore to get a handle on all of the organization once again, and pick up where I left off.

Are you guys sure you don't want to work on it at all yourself? If not, there may come a time where I get around to it, just not anytime soon.

The reason other mappers don't want to kick off from someone elses work is much the same reason why you don't want to start working on your map again. If you feel it is a chore for you finding out which trigger does what and what that DC was for again and why was that location there, etc.; then imagine how hard it would be for someone who has never touched the map before!

If you think you can finish it before 29th December 2011 11:59PM I think you've got a good chance at first place.

Well... it's not like it was badly organized, in fact, I labeled everything nicely according to its function. ^^

Anyway, that gives me a lot of time to perhaps change my mind and work on it a bit.

Do something else, you might come back to it later. I had many breaks when I was working on my sc1 D1 failmap. :D

You'd be surprised how easily it'll come back to you.
