Hi all,
Probably few of you actually saw my activity decreased during the last week. I was "camping" at my college in an attempt to get government's attention on its recent "Budget Bachand", which is a step forward leading Quebec to elitism and privatization.
The following collapse box contains various informations that you might consider useless.
Curious?
This week of occupation was the result of months of efforts and organization.
Me and my friends had planned a total of 14 conferences, but unfortunately only 8 occurred. Anyhow, in despite of the enormous effort we had set into mobilizing people and entertaining them to get them to assist to these, there was something like at most 2 people that were not part of the organizers (my friends and I) that assisted to them. I am extremely deceived at how apolitical our society became and how much people don't care about what is happening.
This "Budget Bachand" is about to raise the cost of the education by 2,000 to 10,000 $ per university program, increase the annual cost of hospitalization by 200 $, abolish 30-ish social programs, and much more! Justification? Economical crisis. Facts? Falsified! By including Canada's general deficit to Quebec's, they "boosted" the numbers by billions of dollars, making it look -way- worse than it actually is. So now we're stuck with all these increased cost that will only affect the middle class.
What could've been the other solutions? There are so many... but I feel like I'm already losing your attention, so if you want more informations about this, just ask for it.
One of the conferences was about "Demobilization" (or "Democratic crisis"). The lecturer explained why people were so disinterested in democracy (his main point being that it's simply because we do not actually have a real democracy, at all). After explaining this, he started to explain anarchism, which really made sense when he was talking of it. I am starting to interest myself into this political-view, but I consider myself not well-informed enough to try to talk about it.
During this week, we were also distributing free food to all the students (symbolizing the fact that if the "Budget Bachand" is applied, students will have to choose between studies and vital needs). The ambiance was one of collectivism, and I must admit I never felt so good: once you learn to let go the idea of Property, you feel less stressed. Not having to care about "will [this] or [that] be stolen if I leave it there?" was awesome. Obviously, I haven't applied this to everything since we cannot trust the strangers (including students we didn't know at all). For example, the very first day, a group of students actually decided to steal about 20L of juice and 10kg of apples. What was their point? Not quite sure... everything was free! But this is exactly what makes me so sick about our society.
Anyways, this "give what you want, take what you want" ambiance really felt nice, and I'd love people to try it out, but unfortunately, I already know people are satisfied (-.-') with our current system.
So now, I am left with a society I absolutely hate...
I've heard of
Kibbutz, but after doing some research, I'm not quite sure these societies are still very strong and working well. I've even read they had started to give salaries... I really don't understand how a collectivist society can work with money.
Any one have informations as of where I could move to to fucking get rid of all these ideas of property, money and all this bullshit?
What I've heard of Kibbutz
They are in Israel.
You pay 15$ to enter, and then you're part of the community.
From there, you work 6 hours/day, 6 days/week, and the rest of the time, you're free to do whatever you want.
Everything is free.
None.
