They could be somewhat fun.
Anyone has an opinion over this?
We could get a team to work-out some funny Achievements and a designer to paint them. :O

Red classic.

"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."

Exactly.

I see no reason not to.

Didn't we talk about this already?

The problem was the balance between Minerals/Tourny points and Achievements.
They all kind of serve different things.

Tho I don't disagree with getting achievements, we should keep our focus on making the current mineral system work... aka pushing the SEN economy forward..

I remember they were discussing Mineral rewards for getting certain achievements... lol :awesome:

From what im seeing, SEN itself isn't even stable yet. Why would we want to implement something that could cause even more glitches, when we need to focus on being on SEN for at least 30 minutes without running into some MYSQL errors. Even IF we do like it, whos going to implement it? Most of the needed coders are gone when we need them the most. Furthermore, imo the mineral system still needs some work, and SEN needs to regain stability before we even consider new ideas.

I dont particularly hate this achievement idea nor like it, i just think we should stop planning ahead if we cant even go forward, i.e Massing carriers with 1 base.

FALSE. We needed them most when SEN didnt even exist. You pus- I mean people - are just whining about nonsense features that we don't really need.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Lols.

I think SEN needs to cut some crap like :cecil: smilies, two resources and forum games out, not introduce more.

Then again, if you consider it your job to get people addicted to SEN rather than do what's right for mapmaking, go ahead.

SEN's not doing a good job of either addicting people to the website or map-making, so what is SEN really doing with it's time? Mine as well do something constructive. :awesome:

To think you gained 8 minerals for this thread...

*shudders*

*payne has earned the Mineral Whore achievement!*
If he did then something is wrong.

Bugfixes and site features have priority over fun. So right now this proposition has no chance of going through.

No. Achievements in video games are obnoxious enough; forums DEFEINITELY don't need them. Besides, like Cent said, we already have enough metareward crap in place as is. We don't need to implement another reason to spam.

While coding something new is not needed, actually doing something with the medal system we have now might not be the worst of ideas.

Sep 19 2010, 1:29 am Aristocrat Post #17

Achievements were introduced to video games to give them extra "replay value" by providing arbitrary, long, yet not necessarily difficult objectives. I see no reason why SEN should adopt this terrible system.

Need something to mark join date and site contributions? We already have regular/veteran/elite ranks. Virtually everything else already has a SEN counterpart to an extent. Before we implement new features, existing bugs must be fixed.

I wonder how many active members would remain if Null was removed from SEN?

Achievements imply that you've achieved something. The only people that deserve achievements here at StarEdit Network are the ones who are keeping this community a respectable place.
