I propose to actually give out the links of the video tutorials from other communities: let's not be like them and restrict the information to keep our members. I think we all know SEN members are fellow members and even if they go take information from other sites, they'll still have a huge attachment to SEN. Seriously, I say we should provide, for the sake of saying we're the first community to compile -all- of the tutorials, anything from other communities too.
Here is what a guy I contacted about his resolution of videos said:
Quote
I use Camtasia Studio 6 and sometimes Fraps.
I use Camtasia to record the screen. Then if I need high quality in-game video I use Fraps, I run in windowed mode and scaled my window to be exactly 1280x720 so it's in 720p.
Then I convert the Fraps videos to xvid with virtual dub.
If you guys could re-do your tutorials, it'd be awesome.

I'm confused... I'm trying to replicate the unit duplication thing step by step (the tutorial is very unclear, btw, I've had to go over each step several times just to see what the guy was doing) with a zergling in place of an infestor, and I can't find a "is zergling burrowed" validator.
Help?
EDIT: Also, ever since I touched the data editor, I haven't been able to place non-melee units. I tried setting the dependencies once again, but it didn't change anything. What's going on?

First the unit duplication tutorial says to open datedit and copy the unit and rename the copy (in the example, an infestor). Don't check the boxes. Then it says to copy the actor, and to check the boxes on that one. Then it says to copy a particular validator, which isn't there in the unit I'm trying to copy (zergling).
And, after trying to do this in datedit, I found I could no longer place campaign units on the map.
Why wouldn't I be able to edit units from the campaign? Why would blizzard have made the editor like that? Even SC1's Staredit was able to edit units from the campaign.
Is there a way I can copy the graphics and put them into the game from scratch?
Now, that the minerals are back up I would like to remind everyone about this. Make a tutorial-video and post it here, advertising SEN in the video as well is a damn huge plus by using devlin's intro which you can find in the OP of this topic. I offer you up to 100 minerals, dependent on the quality and what the tutorial is about!

1) How do we know when we should or not "check the boxes" ? 2) It looks like the burrow Infestor Junior doesn't have the complete burrowed animation: it is missing the kind of crater surrounding him. Please provide a fix?
Aww, damn it. I thought you said text tutorial, not video... If you gimme a list of programs needed to make a video tutorial, I'll make some. Just need: screen capture program + voice recording; something to put video files together so I can put that intro on; video compressor?
Oh, and they all have to be free. (or torrentable)

Wouldn't sniping the ground just waste the ability? If there was another unit there, you would have to give the spell an AOE effect for it to do damage to that unit when sniping the ground, right? How do I give spells AOE effect (and how to specify how big that area is)?

I've created this tutorial because I had in mind to try to create some Portal stuff. Therefore, I did not need any AOE. I tried to look at Infestor's "Spawn Infested" effects, but it looks like the "Spawn Unit" effect isn't working as it should. O.o
Oh_Man shouted: yeah i'm tryin to go through all the greatest hits and get the runs up on youtube so my senile ass can appreciate them more readily
You should do my Delirus map too; it's a little cocky to say but I still think it's actually just a good game lol
