@Norm: I'm excited you want to take it, and you're definitely qualified in every way. I'm just really confused why you want to. Like it sounds too good to be true. I know how much you truly love Hero sanctuary, and how much time you've put into it. I just can't see you putting temple siege in front of HS. It. I'm also a little worried you'll add something that makes TS lag like HS ;p
but shouldn't I be the one to say this?
No. It was handed down to me, but in his grace moose gave you everything he gave to me. You had just as much to work with as I did. I just did something with it.
You basically handed your line down to flashbeer already.
I do not understand how both you and mini_moose decided to completely break any connections with me in the process of making TS.
History of Temple Siege
You made completely v1, I made a topic for it, and basically played publicist for the map. Hosting it all the time and teaching people. Still, it was very imbalanced and glitchy. Then you made v1.2 with mneox. It was awesome, but still incredibly glitchy. Then you made v1.4, finally made all characters playable. A game could actually be played and enjoyed with a fair chance of shit not breaking. Up until this point you engaged with the community, updated the map, and even played sometimes.
And then you died.
We went months without another version to fix simple things that were found to ruin the game. So instead of just letting this map with awesome potential die, moose started editing it, which wasn't breaking any rules since it wasn't protected or anything to begin with. He put tons and tons of time into fixing things, and eventually ended up rewriting almost every single trigger you put in, because your trigger work was VERY sloppy and inefficient. The M versions are refined to the point were they are ready for competitive play. So I host tournaments, making temple siege even more popular, and at some point the most popular UMS map on East. Unfortunately b.net players were always incredibly mean to moose, which over time killed his motivation to keep working on the map. For a little while after vMT, temple siege was dead. We turned to you, hoping that after a YEAR you might be able to set aside some free time to get back into TS. You failed, and just talked alot about v1.5. I couldn't believe how little you cared about temple siege. It's incredibly rare that a map maker gets their map to be this popular, but you didn't seem to care. I petitioned moose to hand it down to me, but he wasn't ready to give up yet. At the start of the new year, you and moose simultaneously got re-energized to be productive, probably because it finally hit you that temple siege was the center of UMS. So like a father coming back to his bastard son, you thought everything was cool with you being in charge again, and that we were really just watching it while you were gone. You wanted to make 1 combined version of temple siege, but moose really didn't need you for any reason, so he declined. The direction you were taking was just all wrong, you even wanted to have a hero called Ussop from your favorite anime One Piece and use all his moves, and you were suddenly concerned abut adding a story, and giving characters really shitty user generated back-stories. No thanks, gl with v1.5.
After M3, moose started going in pretty strange directions that I didn't like either. TS was splitting up in all different directions, with none of them looking good; people hated M7 & 1.5 and were forced to play MT with all its glitches. I till it upon myself as moose once did to give people what they actually wanted, and released M3.1-3.4. It quickly gobbled up all the competition, but I ended it and promoted M8. M8 was awesome and actually garnered an audience, unfortunately despite a tourny 3.4 remained in the lead. Moose recognized he didn't even have any time to devote to TS anymore and I was finally given my first legit crack at making TS. He also once again gave you everything he gave me, out of recognition that you did start this train. I announced I was making M9, with a modest list of features. It was just in time too, because also during this time Pigy_G re-stole M3.4, called it CHAOS, and just made everything deal 9999. At the same time you were busy behind the scenes. You announced an ambitious v1.7 that sounded awesome, but basically it was a relative unknown 'Flashbeer' doing everything. M9 was finished, and is now by far the most hosted TS, like 3.4 was. I'm getting the feeling this isn't luck, and I'm sure C1 is going to follow suit.
tl;dr - kid analogy: Me and moose raised TS, fed it, clothed it, taught it how to play catch. You stuck your dick in staredit, came, and said "see you in 2 years!" And now that you don't have to change its diapers, you want to come back and have everything be cool.
But from the way you created this post, it just makes it sound like you're the only that cares anymore.
Actions speak louder than words. If you still care about TS, DO something with it!
Has it occured to you that maybe I, like many, many other people, just don't have time to map anymore
Then WHY the fuck do you care?! What part of my OP has anything to do with you having no time?!
Moreover, I can't stay 100% focused on TS all the time, or else my ideas will just be stale.
I've never even been 100% focused on ts. How does any of this have anythign to do with me looking for someone who DOES have time? Also, I don't even agree with "If I think about TS alot my ideas will start to suck"
This is important since I've never worked on a map in which I haven't had about 90% of the design created inside my head already.
What the hell are you even arguing here?
I don't know.. this has just gotten to the point where it has become too distant from me that I have to point this out. I've never said I've stopped working on TS,
Oh, so you've just been acting like you've stopped working on it all this time?
nor have I said I won't do anything about TS in SC2.
How the hell do you even bring that into this...
Maybe there is something missing in between. Now's your chance to scold at me as much as you want, because I do not want there to be 2 distinct TS's (if there will be any TS's) when SC2 comes.
Still talking about SC2 for some unknown reason...
The fact is, I've created TS. Whatever you've done to it has been an add-on to my previous creation. There's no escaping it. You can't just leave me out of the picture.
No one took you out of the picture, you took yourself out. You left. We picked up the pieces, and made something out of it. And you've never been left out of the picture. Moose has sent you an unprotected copy of every single version he's ever made. You just continue to do nothing with it.
Just so you know, there are plans going on with TS2, and we even have a google.wave of it.. tho not much activity's going on in there. This doesn't mean there will not be. The only reason why I haven't contacted other people yet is because SC2 isn't even out yet, and I have not enough time to start getting used to the new editor.
There you go on about SC2 again.... It's funny though that you keep harping about how we keep you out of everything (we clearly don't) when this is the first time I've even heard about the wave group.
