Hello

So, yea, I just cut out the entire karma system. It was abused and not taken serious, sure, there are "mature members" who used that on purpose but lets face it, we are a community about a game, noone can expect everyone to follow those rules (well you can expect them to, but you know that noone will be afraid of abusing... KARMA).

Complaints go into here.
(bad grammar probably, late at night)

So... it's poorly implemented, poorly fixed, and removed. Shame.

It was just a popularity contest anyways

Yeah. Because I'm going to Karma every post Voy or Farty makes.

I think it's interesting how there was never a problem with karma since it was implemented until certain people came along and started talking about it nonstop and caring way too much about how high their karma was. It was much better when most people didn't even know it existed or how it worked.

Anyway, it's not a loss to cry about since it was meaningless.

Hello

devilesk, we got to face it: SEN is... err.. having too many, mosltly unused features or sites or other stuff. Karma was one of them.

My first instinct was to +karma this topic.

I do hope to see it come back in some form; it helps to be able to mark useful topics/posts.

There was no attempt to put effort into it and make it meaningful. One karma per person per day would've worked much better.

This is true but just as I said: nearly no one gives a fuck about it and just presses it randomly.

Well, if it's 50/50, then the random ones cancel out and only the meaningful ones are left! :D

Which are like.... 5-10 people out of hundred?

Yeah. Implement a system poorly and wonder why no one uses it. Fix it but make it abusable, wait a week, and instead of fixing the abusability remove it altogether. I used more Karma in the past week then in all the months before.

Hello

That does not matter.
When I added the timer, no one except for you and maybe some others were using it. You could have seen one post with 1 karma within 100 posts with 0 karma.

Do not tell me that the karma was not striking enough nor it was really explained enough.

People were not used to using it. Most won't go from not touching it to using it actively based on nothing more than a vague assertion that it was fixed in a forum they didn't visit. g2g for a bit.

Karma was useless, and I don't even see how it could be useful even if used properly. It's not like a highly karma'd post would make me more likely to view the post in the first place, because it had no effect on how I found the post to begin with.

The only thing karma did was give people something to show off and shout about or whine about when their karma dropped.

If the only thing that sticks out in my mind about karma is Aristocrat always talking about his own karma in the shoutbox, then you know it's not being used properly or for the right reasons. Ideally, it shouldn't even be talked about publicly, because there's no reason to.

Who cares? It was a stupid system. I remember getting negative karma points for telling someone in the null forum that I think incest is wrong.

Individual karma totals for members shouldn't have been kept track of. That is what causes all the problems and abuse. The focus of karma should be kept on the posts themselves rather than the person who posted it.

Karma is a novelty, but it's a nice one to have.

THIS. (I would karma the post, but the feature has been removed.)
