Creating signs//symbols with killing units.

So i've been making a map where if you cast a spell (produce unit), it spawns attacking units at the hero. Usually before the attacking unit there is an effect, i.e
Action: Create 1 dropship
-Kill 1 dropship.
Now, im having some problems with making more complicated shapes like an X
I think i figured out that the unit production goes in the following, out of 25 air units. In a 100 "pixel" box giving each unit 4 squares.
1 6 11 16 21
2 7 12 17 22
3 8 13 18 23
4 9 14 19 24
5 10 15 20 25
I tried to make an X with the following actions(assume scouts for units and at a centered location on the hero)
Create 1 for current player
Create 3 for player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 1 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 1 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 2 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 3 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 1 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 1 for Player 7
Create 1 for current player
Create 3 for Player 7
Create 1 for Current Player
Kill all Scouts for current player
Remove all scouts for player 7

With that it should be like this
K . . . K
. K . K .
. . K . .
. K . K .
K . . . K
K for kill, . for removed
The results is this (scouts arent killed in this split second)

I'm assuming the killing process is the same as the creation process. Or that other locations that are centered on the hero are conflicting
But how should i know, since this is my first map.
I apologize in advance if this sort of topic was posted already, as i googled and searched and couldnt find any info.
thx.

http://www.staredit.net/wiki/Grid_Systems Look at mobile grids

You're gonna want to use devourers because creating them in one spot makes a perfect square, and place the locations, then remove the devourers and create the scouts.

And it's pretty much required to make sure you use the offset glitch fix in this situation, just be careful of that.

Here's a thread on making a star. You'll want to use mobile grids. Post the map, as I have a feeling you are either killing units at a location, or creating units after the kill action.

I had assumed you read the rules since you said you googled. In any case, I've never heard of your problem before, and you obviously don't have a problem making the mobile grid with scouts (it's just not pretty), but the fact that the scouts aren't being killed. That's why if you can't figure it out on your own, you'll need to post the map.

Also, if you aren't already, use SCMDraft. You can find it in the database, or in the scmdraft stickied topic. It has text triggers which are very useful for posting online. Just make sure if you post a lot, stick it in a [collapse][/collapse] box.

I'm almost certain he didn't kill them on purpose to show that the scouts weren't placing as he predicted.

sorry, i didnt clarify the picture well enough. i managed to take the scout pic a split second b4 they were killed. im currently studying the link you guys sent me, as this (already said ) is my 1st map. Im also using scmdraft atm as well. Figuring out the mobile grid shouldnt be hard, as i have some other maps to help me reference as well (i.e JHZ heroes)

btw the link for the star does work.

my apologies, you have to add a "/" on the end of threads or it won't find it. I fixed it. It has details on the order of a 5x5 grid (which is what you're looking for).
