After he-who-must-not-be-named said that he would like to charge more money on games he sells, it triggered a reaction to the gaming community. From a lot of game sites I see a range of criticism when it comes to Activision and EA. Some of them can be downright ridiculous. If have such hate towards them and want something radial done, why don't we NOT buy their games?
It is funny to see a gamer fan be have high expectations on games but then disappointed from marketing schemes that get deployed with it. We see that some games are breaking down into pieces and being charged separately (like episodes and expansions). Also, theres the monthly fees of those online games (WoW ftl). Another thing is seeing a game that got paid for promotion more than the actual creation of a game. If we don't like it - fine; we shouldn't pay attention to those companies. We shouldn't be surprised if them fat cats wants to charge us a gazillion for just one poorly made game. The reality of it kids is that they're not there to sell games, they are there to sell
merchandise.
Lets not hate on the companies that are evil in the first place. It should be downright confusing to generally hate game companies and then generally purchase games. If your against that kind of tyranny that Activision an EA stand for, then you can act upon that by finding something else to do (like get a job).
We should rejoice on the idea of a free sharing morally flexable world. There are millions of fun flash games
or Facebook games that are free to play. And if you have no sense of right and wrong, there are games that are available illegally. So what if a CEO says he wants to charged a gazillion for a game? I say "i dare ya"! I myself will just enjoy my collection of cracked games and roms and opened iphone apps.

You probably live in America. Giant fuck you for complaining about prices. New games cost £44 .99 here, about a year ago, that'd be nearly $100. and I know you pay less than that cos I lived in canada for 4 years.
None.
When EA published games I cared about, I didn't dislike them.
Also, Activision is one of my favorite publishers to date. They don't publish crap generally.

I lol'd. But in reality if you dont want to pay for a usually quality product the only thing you can do is pirate it. A group of people protesting will never hurt EA, but pirating will.

Since we're their source of income?
Blizzard and Lucas Arts are the only publishers that ever got income from me. And they well deserved it.
Ubisoft will probably be be on that list soon. (Assassin's Creed 2)
The other publishers are mostly failing to meet my expectations.

Yeah, because boycotts works so well on the internet.

Only problem I have with paying for games is seeing my money go to publishers.
None.
Games I've bought:
Diablo
Starcraft
Brood War
Baldur's Gate
Tales of the Sword Coast
Command & Conquer
Nox
Tiberium Sun
Diablo 2
Baldur's Gate 2
Throne of Bhall
Mario 64
Soul Calibur 2
Half Life 2
Wii Sports
Mario Galaxy
More or less in that order, too. The reason I hate EA is because they ruined Nox (and the rest of westwood). The rest of the games I play are either stolen from friends (doom 3, halo) or pirated (oblivion, morrowind, fable). The reason boycotts don't work is because someone will always buy the game. Just take a look at Madden. It's the same game every year, they just have to update the rosters, the gui, the general gameplay, and the graphics. Madden 2005 was the highlight of the franchise, and it's only gone downhill from there.
I also don't remember voldemort saying anything about EA and video games.

I'm sorry. You lost me at the title. If we are their customer base...hating on them will cause them to make better games. Or, if they choose not to listen to us, we'll find a different company that will listen. That is why more games are coming to compete with WoW (to use your example) by offering their game without a monthly charge. Is it successful? Well...if they're making profit. Yes.
