Why should religion be taught in school? While learning about history, I always found it tough to understand why wars occured, why people framed the Jews, why the Crusades happened and so on, mainly becuase the teachers became timid when the subject of religion came up. If religion was allowed to be taught at school, not only would the students have a larger grasp of logic, of rebuttles, and of written fluency, but also that of association, of history, and of human advancement. That sole purpose should be enough to allow the teaching of religion at school.

It's all a load of crap, happy? Religion is included any type of history classes that require a general understanding of the prominent religions of the time already. A larger grasp of logic? Baseless and ridiculous. Of rebuttles? Baseless and ridiculous. Written fluency? Complete bullshit. Association? Irrelevant. History? Yes, maybe some improvement on what we have. Human advancement? Slightly at best. Those several purposes are all of your own fabrication with some intelligent overtones so it wouldn't appear so ludicrous.

Quote
Of course, this does not show that ONLY creationism should be taught at school, but if all religions are taught, then creationism is taught as well; which could show how humans have developed over time in their thought process.

Teaching all religions is impossible unless the implications of what you are saying are not as they appear. The bit about thought process is just fluff anyways.

wth is starcraft

Re: Feguland (sorry, caught the band wagon late.)

Hard Scientific Evidence? There's still a missing link, and Darwin renounced his famous drawing of the ape to human, saying it was pure speculation, on his death bed.

I think creationism is a great deal important to be taught. In Science? No. In any fundamental religion or western history class, yes. From what I've seen, my teachers in high school were afraid to touch on the subject of Christianity. In my 'intro to world religions' class, we studied it for a day, and did all other major and minor religions for at least a week. In Western Civ, we went over the problems with the Catholic Church, touched briefly on the socio-political implications of the church, and then moved on (which took all of five minutes of the lecture.) Then, I get to college and take a class called "Religious Perspectives of the Environment" and low and behold, the entire semester was about Christianity...and how it supposedly 'destroyed' the environment, which, I bring up, because in creationism theory, God CLEARLY states to take care of his planet, all of it, and treat it as the face of God. Ironic, isn't it, that my teacher forgot that fine print? Don't worry, in the year since, I've been reading environmental theories by Christian authors, and forwarding the books onto him. No reply yet.

I have supplied three cases in which creation theory is CRUCIAL for study. Just as I studied evolution in honors biology when I took it in high school, so should creation theory be touched on - at the very least in your run of the mill western civ class (provided and required by most colleges and high schools.)

So, because that less-religious, secular European countries have lower crime, poverty, and unemployment rates, we should teach myths to our children? America was founded on the freedom of religion, not cramming it down one's throat.

China is a leading exporter of goods has a growing and efficient space program.

I'm saying that the countries with fewer religious people( although this includes non-theistic religious based countries ), tend to have lower crime rates, smarter citizens, and less poverty.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Every single human is a sheep, adhering to laws set down by greater powers. Well, except a select few who rise above limitations. Such as Ceasar, Napoleon, etc.

And really, Steamy, only you would think that someone on this forum ('cept you, of course) needs to google 'ignore'.

Wouldn't surprise me. Less people claiming 'Blacks are the anti-christ' if you don't care much for Christ, and the people don't focus on memorizing scripture but facts.

I'm sorry, there is no scientfic proof to prove the evolution theory.
Though, many have accepted the theory as fact, it's far from reality.

The fossil records are lacking horribly, and why was only one Lucy discovered? Any explanation without proof would only be an excuse. Not to mention you can't base facts off of her seeing as how she is only 40% of her remains.

And as for "no evidence of a creator" You're sadly mistaken, you see, Dinosaurs are enough proof.
And have also been recorded through out time. They were written clear as day in the book.

Also, if you've ever read the Gospel you'd know the theory of evolution was a huge prediction.

The theory of evolution is one of the most widely verified and tested theories in existence, also, anthropologists are pretty notorious in the scientific community for their assumptions based off a small number of specimens. If you really want to know what the word theory means, and how the theory of evolution fits the definition, I will explain it, but I expect you to pay attention and keep any bias in check if you ask me to do so.

I also ask if you have a scientific theory that is a better biological model than Darwinian evolution.

Nov 2 2007, 12:15 am Akar Post #155

I only believe in evolution within genus. Although there is a reasonable amount of evidence supporting we evolved from our primate friends, I think it is a tad too extreme. What I'm wondering is how humans branched off and yet the older type of humans died out, but the apes are still here, which are what humans evolved from.

Nov 2 2007, 12:20 am WoAHorde Post #156

Humans and apes evolved from the same common ancestor. Humans did not directly evolve from apes.

You can't test somethign that happeneds "billions of years ago". Unless you have a time machine.

Sure, our dna matches a chimps by like 94%. You can test that out and prove it.
But you can also test out the fact our dna matches a lot, and I mean a lot of other things. Such as a plants.
We can use this as comon creator.

And Chromosomes, if you knew anything about inteligent design you'd have this already explained to you.

Here is another good point, We didn't start finding the "Homo erectus" fossils UNTIL darwin made his theory. Interesting, no?

Such as a plant's*. Also, what qualifies as matching dna? You don't seem to have any clue what you are talking about.

What?

How do you start this sentence with chromosones and end it with questioning his knowledge of intelligent design? :|

No, it's not. What is your point?

Wow.... go back to school. Learn about evolution.. exceed past your brain limits.. which isn't much.

It's ridiculous how much knowledge you're lacking.

Also if you knew what I was doing you'd see that I was bringing forth what WE can test and use for evolution.
And that none of it truly proves evolution.

You can't test natural selection and use it for proof of evolution. If that's what he meant by "Evolution has been tested"?

Anyways, I'm done debating this. If you want to believe "nothing" created everything (makes a lot of sense, I know) go for it. But, students should have a choice what they'd rather learn.
If you see it differently then it is you, who wants to take free will from people.
