So can you not use bb for quotes and html for the rest? that would be awfully convenient :)

No it wouldn't! It'd be bbcode with carets.

How would that be convenient? You'd have two different types of tag to type in, and if we DID have HTML enabled, we'd only be able to do what we can already do in BBCodes. Like I said before, BBCodes can do whatever HTML can do, and MORE.

Dungeon Master

It's easier to type a [ than a <. It doesn't require shift. So no, it wouldn't be more convenient in ANY way :P

I'm a HTML dude: even if BB is easier. What matters is the functions available and what limitations either has. Even a combination of both would be OK but that would need more programming (sorry!). I have done this kind of thing before so I wonder if... :D Mabey they should consider multi-language for those who dont know BB (like me :D).

I think you mean it would need more Scripting ;)

HTML and Forums != Good idea.

Its been said numerous of times as to why, so why should I even repeat myself?

Everything has been like this so far.. Why change it? I also like using BBCode for a lot of the things on here, lol

Because blindly following tradition without examination or questioning is not a good idea.

We live in a society.

Yes, but I wasn't in charge, and there was barely a fraction of the population we have now.

I know a forum that uses HTML and nothing bad has happened there. Now you guys are giving everyone ideas on what they can do with HTML.

We live in a society.

I doubt their regular audience is similar to the demographics that SEN has to go up against.

Ya, you realise we have members hacking regularly with cross site SQL injection, right? :P

I'll give you some sample bbcodes to get you started:
To make text bold:
In BBCode: [ b]text[ /b] (without the spaces, of course).
In HTML: <b>text</b>

To make text italic:
In BBCode: [ i]text[ /i]
In HTML: <i>text</i>

Noticing a pattern here?

To make a quote:
In BBCode: [ quote=name]text[ /quote]
In HTML: <table style="border:1px dashed #333; background-color:#deadbeef"><tr><td>and so on.... </table>

Noticing a difference there?

Note that the XHTML tags for most of the bbcodes are actually deprecated.

Do YOU want SeN to not standards compliant?

I wasn't talking to you dumbass. Read my post more carefully. Read better before you start being gay.

And like what Jello said. BBCodes for the easy stuff like quotes and HTML for the rest.
