Yea, Rorschach is the actor. Jackie Earle Haley is just his disguise.

Rorschach was definetely one of the most well acted characters, along with Dr. Manhattan. If you don't htink you want to read the comic after seeing the movie, I highly recommend you read the comic. The comic is at least a hundred times better than the movie. It has a very dark and complex storyline that I think many of you here will find as a good read.

When I read it (which was only last week) I thought the newsstand bits were absolutely vital to the story, and of course almost none of that is in the movie.

Particularly public reaction to the news of heroes pulling off a rescue in the fire incident - I consider that the statement of the book.

Am I the only one who finds themselves wondering while reading and watching, why is it that Ozymandias can catch and dodge bullets?

He was spawned from The Matrix universe, obviously.

Only saw the movie, but when they were talking about how badass the comedian was, they said that HE said he could catch a bullet. Osmosis or w/e his name beat him 1on1 in a fair fight in the beginning, it stands to reason if the weaker/slower comedian could do it, Ozzy could too.

That is what starts the comic off too.

Plus you have to remember that the Comedian is much older than Ozymandias.

Also, if you remember the part in the comic (and maybe this was in the movie too, I don't remember), but Rorschach says that Ozymandias is faster than both of them, and they are both pretty fast, and Dan isn't that old, so in this universe where normal (albeit in top physical condition) humans dress up in spiffy outfits, they can catch bullets. I liked the Hooded Justice's outfit. It was overly colorful and made him look fat. Ew. he was supposed to be extremely buff.

I'm asking the question because, sure the other characters are demonstrated as strong, fast, and experts of martial arts. But the capacity to dodge and catch bullets is a goddamned superpower, not a skill. You can not learn to catch a bullet, smartest man in the world or not. Maybe I just have my standard of realism too high for Watchmen?

Considering Dr. Manhattan, yessir this isn't too realistic.

Considering he just barely did it(We're not talking Matrix/Bullet proof monk bullshit), and still was injured slightly by it, I wouldn't say it's any less believable than taking on 10 guys at once, punching people across rooms, or jumping really high.

And the Doc isn't so much a super hero, as he is a god.

They never said the Comedian could catch a bullet, they were talking about Ozy. He jokes about being able to do it in the comic and is surprised when he actually does.

I just realised that when Jon is visible on the moon, he's holding a golf club.

Awesome.

(Also, I must have missed the part in the book where he jokes about it. It makes more sense now.)

Also, Fatso, Manhattan isn't supposed to be realistic as a human.

My point is that his mere existence in the book makes it unrealistic and that people therefore really ought not to whine about silly little things like people catching bullets.

It was joked about it within the movie and the novel, and then he actually does it.
Also, if you read his bio on the watchmen movie's website it reveals that his body was trained to athletic perfection, which may have something to do with it.

Going back to watching the beginning credits, I can't believe how many things I missed. Like the Enola Gay being renamed Miss Jupiter.

The movie was an utter mess. Visually it was pretty amazing. There were parts that I really liked both action and dialogue wise (which can't really be attributed to the movie makers), too. But overall it's pretty incoherent. They tried to do way too much for one movie. The acting was overall pretty sketchy. They ruined the scene on Mars when John suddenly realizes that life is a miracle. I was about 30 pages into the book before I read the movie, and I will go onto finish the book. I know that the movie didn't do it justice.

And at the end... after John gets put into the electrode chamber thing, and they pretend that he may have died for a second... that chick just comes out of f'ing nowhere with a gun, says "You're a real asshole" and shoots him. What the fuck. Learn to edit. And then of course, he goes rolling down all those steps and lays there for a good 5 seconds. Even though it's obvious that he just caught the bullet (they said he joked he could catch bullets earlier on), especially since he's laying on the ground freaking smiling. Bleh.

And the middle of the movie . . . when The Night Owl and Silk Spectre just start having sex all the time. It's completely ridiculous. And they made The Night Owl's crazy ass dream have basically no relevance and I don't even know why they bothered with it. And when she presses the flamethrower button while they're having sex in "Archie" it's like, "Ok Watchmen the movie, you are fucking ridiculous. Did you just make this movie for shits and giggles?"

It's worth seeing but it is not a very good movie, at all. My overall reaction is a big What The Fuck.

Not reading the rest of the posts, I haven't finished yet. I stopped at chapter 2 about a year ago, and I'm reading it again. I'm on chapter 10.

I thought it was decent actually. I wish it was made more dramatic though.


I don't understand what you aren't liking here. What would you do if Adrien defeated the Nite Owl and Rorschach at the same time, as well as destroying Doctor Manhattan? However, Ozzy rolling down the stairs may have been a bit campy. But it's not like any of them could have known that he had caught the bullet.


That was in the novel buddy...it was completely relevant. It illustrated Nite Owl's clashing thoughts.
