And you ARE pushing your opinion on me.
So what exactly is it that I am pushing on you?

Quote
And what the hell are you doing? Going to Sunday School? Anyone can go to Elementary/Primary School and learn could at least learn some evaporation, volcanic eruption, dry ice, and whatever. And besides, if I weren't to repeat what schools said, I can say nanotechnology is part of science.
WTF does Sunday School have to do with anything we were talking about? Any chance you could manage to articulate yourself clearly?

Quote
It does contain the myth of god. If people tell you to read a book, it's because it might strengthen your knowledge. Then there's also the obvious distinction that books can always be meant to be taken as a non-fictional piece of literature. It's the church's/rednecks/Christians job to prove god to me.
I don't think so. Their only obligation is to make sure you understand your decision, that's why they told you to read the bible. If you're too dense to understand that the bible is a philosophy book instead of a science book then that's your own fault, isn't it?

Quote
Check the first paragraph on the first post? That was the whole damn point why I created this topic.
First paragraph says:
Quote
There were four polls and it was quite surprising to see the statistics. Later, I read the many comments leaving Christians trying to prove anyone understanding evolution and science, only to believe in Jesus Christ.
What does this even mean? What exactly did the polls say? Link me to those polls instead of just assuming that I'll take your word for it.

Quote
EDIT: Inspire? That's a joke.
This entire thread is a joke. You expect us to discuss polls that you didn't describe the results of, or linked to.

Random: The Bible claims the sky is blue because there's water above it.
"Then God said, "Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other." " I'm not sure how to quote it, I think it's Genesis 1:6

In my opinion, The Holy Bible is the War Book of the Advisary.

Anyone who believes in The Holy Bible does not know how to open their mind outside of the box..

Again, this is just my opinion

Sorry but the Latter Day Saints is the most tainted religion of them all buddy. They're technically a cult.

Which is why I no longer am Mormon.

Not true. Their obligation is to convert people, and asking for an agreement if god is real. And it's my fault? And how is it anyone's fault? That doesn't make any sense. And besides, I've seen plenty of Christians that went the wrong direction from the black plague to discrimination. I mean really, why hate the Muslims? I thought the point of Christianity is to accept people and whatnot. I'm pretty sure there were many Christians who thought their prayers were neglected many times and believing. Of course, not all.

That's not the mormon version of the Bible, that's the King James version, as there is no mormon version, many churches use it.
Also, I don't see why you would bold about half of what you did, seeing as almost all Christians believe that we are created in God's image, and that the Earth was made in 6 days, and God rested the 7th day.

That argument is to see if he ever knows how science and evolution works. And you Falkoner, you said evolution had plot holes (It would be unlikely to say this). What do they teach you in Arizona? And I had straight A's, no B's and below and all that crap. I brought the word "School" and "Grades" to see if he actually understands anything about Science, Evolution, and etc. Because what's the point arguing with you guys if you are neglecting science and evolution? I tend not to explain science and evolution because it speaks for itself, and many here explained it already (Why can't you learn how Evolution works?). You should've learned science and evolution at Middle/Junior High/Secondary schools, yet it seems like they didn't teach you about it.

My god reading these posts frustrates me.

KrayZee, sorry for the misquote, not sure how that happened.

Aedus, the fact that there's no Hebrew word for sphere comes from the link you posted for us to read, not my knowledge. If you're going to use a link as evidence for your case, please have the basic courtesy to read it yourself.

Link to the polls discussed in this topic... that was posted in this topic... that somehow people missed (In case you just missed KrayZee posting it again): http://news.aol.com/article/bush-says-he-doubts-bible-literally-true/264531

Doesn't that fit with the enormous amount of evidence showing that the Earth isn't 6000 years old?
If there is an enormous amount of evidence that the earth is 6000 years old, then why isn't the scientific consensus that the earth is 6000 years old?

I've heard scientists talk about the age of the earth, and I've heard young earth creationists talk about the age of the earth, and I've got to admit that the scientists appear to me to have more and stronger evidence.

So was the sun also created 6000 years ago? What about the stars?

They don't even teach people the complete version of it. To understand the theory a bit more thoroughly, you have to read 'The Theory of Evolution' written by Darwin.

If you look at my post, I was only referring people to the other examples that were on that page. I didn't read the sphere thing because I already read about it somewhere else. Sorry for the confusion.

I got good grades in public school, and now I'm in my first year of college, getting good grades as well. I got an A in Biology, which is my favorite subject, where evolution is a crucial part of the course material.

You don't know?
And neither do you. I wonder why that is.

Quote
Not true. Their obligation is to convert people, and asking for an agreement if god is real. And it's my fault? And how is it anyone's fault? That doesn't make any sense.
Again, it's nobody's fault you're taking the bible to be a science book. I really don't know how many times I have to repeat this to get it through your skull. Yes, I agree it's stupid of people to try to use the bible as scientific proof and disregard evolution entirely. But I don't see where you go from that idea to "theists owe me a scientific explanation for god".

Quote
And besides, I've seen plenty of Christians that went the wrong direction from the black plague to discrimination. I mean really, why hate the Muslims? I thought the point of Christianity is to accept people and whatnot.
Intolerant people will always be intolerant. I've met atheists who were intolerant as well. But it's stupid to just blame religion, especially since it at least tries to deter intolerance.

Let's recap. Here's what you said:
Quote
On the front page, it revealed an article about George W. Bush is a strong willed Christian that doesn't believe in evolution.
Here's what the article actually says:
Quote
Bush: "I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an almighty and I don't think it's incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution."
For someone who claims to have gotten a basic education you seem to be a little short on your reading comprehension skills, eh?

Quote
I'd love to see you argue everyone in the comments that had voted for evolution.
Here's the problem with that poll: it's too broad. Certainly, while many Christians might take the old testament figuratively, they certainly don't take the testament of Jesus Christ figuratively. As for the poll about the origins of life, it doesn't matter who voted for evolution or who didn't, because the poll doesn't take into account who is a theist or not.

Dear Heinermann:

Who cares? Well, the fact that there are a number of people lobbying for laws about such things that would effect everyone is kind of important to care about.

Discussion is healthy, so long as the participants remind themselves to stay calm and act mature throughout.

Dear Falkoner:
Quote from Falkoner
Quote from HolySin
Quote from name:the "Good version" of Genesis Chapter 1
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28-30 ...
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

He said nothing about Mormons. That was the poster before him.

As for the quote in question, his comment has to do with the fact that there are two separate creations of man mentioned.

Dec 30 2008, 5:58 am Falkoner Post #139

Yes, his work was ended on the seventh day, and it took him six days to do it, it correlates perfectly, not to mention there really are not two accounts, there is simply a slight summary, which is really just finishing up the creation in Genesis 2, and then it goes into detail about the creation of man.
KrayZee is just assuming that it is going in order of time, which it is not.

I just love the irony in that comment.

Yes, I was pointing out how there seemed to be two separate creation stories. I saw absolutely nothing that indicated they were separate accounts or a summary, though I bet I could just continue reading and find stuff validly contradictory to itself. Also, I find it incredibly humorous that Falkoner stated:
Quote
That's not the mormon version of the Bible, that's the King James version, as there is no mormon version, many churches use it.
It's as if he's implying that the version I'm calling to question is flawed because of the version, even though it's the one he linked. That or there is a serious communication issue.

My question is has anybody here read the entire Bible from start to finish? None of that crap where the pastor/priest/whatever/cult leader decides to discuss a passage that highlights a moral that is probably shared by nearly everybody (like don't murder, or be kind to everybody!). Then the follow up question would be if so, why aren't you atheist?
