He means it crashed when he tryed to play the map in StarCraft devourer, I don't have any problems with sprites and stuff but yours and mneox's are 90% sprites.

ahhh... yes it's for watching in the editor only..... there are some [like in MNeox's map] "invalid" sprites

Editor-only terrain is just as good as no terrain.

there were no rules regarding whether the terrain was playable or not... so I wouldn't see why.

Fwop, I'm sure that it was only 1 or two sprites that caused the crash, the pieces still look nice, without them, they just gave it a more animated look for the picture, like I've made pictures where I have units(like interceptors) attacking, and I've used sprites that would crash the game to do so.

Do you make triggers that only work in theory?

How does that even compare? If the triggers worked in theory, then I could make them work, this terrain works, all you need to do is remove some of the sprites that were added for animation effects, they only were added to make it more animated.

If the terrain worked, you wouldn't need to remove anything. Just because triggers can work in theory, it doesn't necessarily make them possible when in use

That's partially true. The terrain worked, but stuff does need to be removed. For example, hallucination death sprites. In the editor, you would sue them to take a screenshot. However, in game, you could just use a trigger to do the same thing, but for ease of use, just use the sprite for the ss.
WIth the triggers, that is true. It doesn't necessarily make it possible when in use, but it usually does, just a few little problems that need a work-around.

But why post the trigger that needs the work-around? Why not just save the trouble and use the work-around?

Regarding editor only vs in game terrain, I'm with fwop. It's the classic argument of form and function. A better analogy might be to compare it with food. If someone makes something that looks really delicious, but it can't be eaten, would it be entered into a cooking contest? Or how about a building that looks really great but can't be built?

Looking at the picture mneox made, you can tell that there are things that wouldn't look like that in game. The platform sprites would cover up all the marines, the addons, the scvs, etc. In addition, most of the effect sprites would disappear after a second and not be repeatable. With the others, all the tank turrents and such can't be displayed without crashing, so if someone wanted to use them, it'd be impossible.

I am also of this opinion. If a piece isn't possible in starcraft then it holds no value. It's really no different than adding in anything else that isn't possible, like my mock SC2 annexation.

Anyway, I started this two weeks ago and never had time to finish it up. Time is up so I quickly took a few shots in its premature and underdeveloped form.

I decided to stray from the human workshop and made a small, desperate Protoss industrial outpost.

Excuse my poor stitch work, I wasn't very organized when I took the screen shots, and it makes a couple places look blocky where isn't actually.

We all love blocks. Blocks for everyone!

Although, it does look like a pre-mature airbase atop a mountain.
