So these colors look terrible. You can see the red is the thing that is off, under the shade of the gui. Anyone else have this, or is my monitor the only thing showing it?

The colours are perfect. I've never seen such a clear image.

I think theres a problem with your monitor. It seems perfect.

None.

Uhm, there's nothing wrong with the colors?

None.

What is the problem with the red? Where exactly?

changed the suspect red to magenta.

Anyway, it looks like it's just my monitor. It really loves to differentiate between the SLIGHTEST black and red. For example, the chat window. The two blacks there look VERY different to me.

To me, the difference is as clear as day between 000000 and 040404 on my monitor. On my laptop, this isn't noticeable at all.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Um, those locations are gray-black, and it's always been that way

It is a very dark red. I only noticed that when I almost doubled the contrast compared to my default setting.
But what's the problem with it? It is supposed that way.

I've had a few issues with color going all weird. (Certain colors changed while others remained the same. It usually happened when I minimized SC and re-maximized it.) I restarted SC and things returned to normal.

Also, your screen looks pretty much normal. But that may be just because I'm partially color blind.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

That's not what I'm talking about. My monitor doesn't like blacks. Like at all. It must be racist.

I don't really have a good way of showing this, as your monitors display the colors perfectly. Take a look at this picture. It shows 256 colors, from 00-FF in a gradient. I can't tell the difference between 00 and 01 on grayscale, but the difference between 01 and 02 is obvious. 02 looks like a hazed black, with a smidge of red in it. 03 looks better since I can't see the red. in it, but it's still significantly brighter. 08 is the absolute worst, since it literally stands out for being so red. The middle area is alright. I can still see tinges of red.

Zoomed out, everything looks fine, since it's pretty hard to distinguish a pixel 1/100th of an inch in width.

afaik this effect is called backlight bleeding.

if you have the monitor described here follow their solution

It's a viewsonic vx2233, and I can't tell what's going on in those pictures.

For those with better screens, this is approximately the difference I see in SC on my desktop, but I eyed it with my laptop (which I can't tell the difference between 00-03).

Why are you posting screen shots if it's your monitor causing the problem?

Nov 4 2009, 6:06 am rockz Post #16

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Because I edited this one on a good monitor (my laptop) to attempt to convey what I am seeing on my bad monitor.

The first image on my bad monitor looks like the second image on my good monitor. 040404 on my bad monitor looks like 0e0e0b on my good monitor.

Btw. with my new monitor which I got today I can also clearly see the red. However as I said it's a setting. I can tweak the colors so that really dark colors actually look (almost) black. But I don't want to. I like this heightened contrast so I can see every detail.
However what I don't like is that my monitor is highly dependent on the viewing angle. Even when looking straight at it I have color shifts at the edges (mainly a little more brightness/less contrast) because I naturally have a higher viewing angle towards the corners. This effect goes only away when I'm really far away which is annoying.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

I've googled with color profiles and such, but to no avail. How does one change these colors? I think the contrast is good, but it's ridiculous right now.

In the osd of the monitor. There's gamma, contrast, rgb, and other sliders. Some settings effectively compress the darker color range.
Don't know about your model, but I'd assume there's something similar.

Is the computer with the messed up colors a Vista computer? If so, that might explain your problem. My friends tell me Vista is too "new" to run starcraft :|

Sometimes, if I hit the window key whilst on bnet, (on vista) when I click on starcraft again to restore, EVERYTHING is in black and white. I'd show you guys a picture but I'm unsure how to take screenshots :(

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
