The sword and the faith

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150478

XFX Core Edition GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
150$, free shipping, and a 10$ promotional gift card.

For a card with a nice performances, aesthetics, and a double lifetime warranty, that is one bangin' price. For those of you looking to run SC2, this thing will shred it and then some.

Also note you can score a GTS 250 1GB for around 130$ shipped, but this is for those of you who like premium brands and nice warranties. XFX cards have a better re-sell value due to their double lifetime warranty.

You have to be kidding me. Same card for $65 cheaper.

Few games use more than 256 MB, let alone 512.

As much as it is a rebrand, it is not the same.

The sword and the faith

Just because that particular review does not show gains in those particular benchmarks does not mean that the very minor changes that were made, are not there. Yes they're minor tweaks/improvements, yes they mean little, but that does not change the fact that for a GTS 250 1GB what I posted is a good deal.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Yeah, but... err.. when people see you saying that something is a good deal, they usually assume that it's a good deal for the price. If you can get a 10% worse card for $60 less...

The sword and the faith

Its an XFX with a double lifetime warranty, on sale, with a 10$ gift card. That is a good deal, unless you don't give a fuck about warranties, which I specifically stated.

The XFX card consumes less power and has more memory.
The 9 series just feels old now even though it is about the same.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I just replaced my 9800 GT 512MB with a GTS 250 1GB today, and it's made a huge difference.I highly recommend this card if you want to get out of the 9 series and below.

>huge difference
8800 GT < 9800 GT << 9800 GTX+ < GTS 250. That's the order I would put the cards, with the "<" not meaning very much. They all use the same g92a/b core (the 8800 uses a, the others can use either, which correspond to 65/55 nm tech). The 8800 and 9800 GT use the same clock, and the 9800 GTX+ and GTS 250 use a 20% faster clock, resulting in a theoretical 20% performance increase. For you, a 20% increase is quite a lot, I'm sure.

The 1 GB of VRAM is only useful on high AA/AF with high res. Otherwise it should perform more or less identical to the 9800 GTX+ 512. Power consumption should only be contingent on the fabrication process (which I assume the 9800 I posted was an a core, and the gts 250 is a b core).

Uggh, that is tempting. I'm still running an 8800GT right now... maybe this summer I'll throw a new card in.

25.5" Asus widescreen monitor with 1920x1200 resolution. Inputs: VGA, DVI, HDMI, component, audio - Outputs: analog or digital audio. May not have the best aspect ratio controls, but probably shouldn't be an issue if you only use it on a computer or with sources no lower than 1080p.
Free shipping, $254.99 with this promo code until the 29th: EMCYXNP53
There is also a $30 rebate available on it.

I am on one right now, it's a fucking amazing monitor and has great built in sound, not to mention enough inputs/outputs to be able to easily switch from my PC to my 360 in less than a second.

At 255, this thing is a steal, I bought mine for about a hundred more.
