So anyway, other then helping my brother finish up his map and doing my zombie map, we decided to do an RPG. Well he assured me that I shouldnt work on his map due to the fact that Idk the current system. [/excuse to start another map]

ANYWAY. This rpg is gonna be snowy, however I want a weather effect. Now I suppose JYD'ing obs constantly creating hallu deaths would work fine, but I wanna know if theres another maybe more creative way to dothis. Such as random spots where it happens. After all I dont want a bound, or some annoying cloud thing.

I was working on a concept map that would create several weather effects. Assuming that the playable area of your RPG will not be small, I'd say that just using the observers with random hallu deaths and observer shield flashes will work fine. Anyway, I thought of a cool idea that may or may not work, but you can use disabled and cloaked and lifted barracks or command centers or whatever liftable terran building you want and order them to move across the map to simulate clouds casting their shadow on the ground. Rain could be done with observer shield flashes.

Im also gonna throw this out, Pigy gave me one hell of an idea.

The screen is going to probably be constantly centered. Whats the dimentions of a screen size location? ;o

i saw one map where for a rain effect they created and removed an observer so that all you would see is a flash of the observer cloaking after being created so it would seem like its raining or something, But i never figured out how he randomized it.

The screen is 20x12. Would you mind telling us this idea or is it too secretive?

Oh I ment about the screen being centered, I think I might go with randomly JYDing obs inside this 20x12 following the players hero, constantly center the screen, and randomly destroy them and make a weathery looking effect.

Anyone got any better ideas? ;o

You'd need to use a mobile grid, but that would work.

Just here for the pie

Just have it so that it has a wind sound play when an observer is over you :|.

If you are using ground units, mobile grids will lag like shit.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
