So ya, I need a new computer for gaming and am looking into a laptop. Price range? Preferably under 1500$.

It needs to be able to run FPS shooters on high settings too. ;o

1600$ and could compete with my current gaming desktop. Don't expect the battery life to be long or to be able to carry it around easily. :P

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Desktop + netbook >> gaeman laptop.

Desktop + netbook cost less too.

Two computers for the price of one, plus the ability to actually carry one around. Anything over 14" screen IMO is too big to be portable.

Yes, if you buy it and install it on it, just like any other computer. Of course, you need a way of getting it onto the computer. Some methods include: USB CD/DVD drive, copy contents of CD/DVD to a USB drive, or use one of the many ways of sharing the contents of the CD/DVD over a network (share the drive itself, a folder containing the contents, or a folder containing an image of the disc - mounting the image with a virtual CD/DVD program on the netbook). Of course, if it would be your only computer, your only options would be the USB CD/DVD drive or to find and download a copy of the original disc from somewhere (AFTER you've purchased it, and using your own key when installing).

I'm not aware of any computers that come with a non-trial version of it pre-installed.

Weird, my laptop had for some reason both the trial educational version or whatever and the full version. Never had problems with any of those expiring, though. Plus I don't delete any of them cause I am scared it might harm the other one

I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming unless gaming is only one of the things you'll do and you actually need it for something else. But the thing is that they overheat, specially if you're going to play very graphic and processor intensive games. No matter how many cooling fans you buy it will always heat and eventually fry up your HD :P

fuck you all

About May of last year, I posted on here (or somewhere else, I can't remember) requesting a laptop for college that had the capability to play modern games. I bought this laptop. It has some of the same features as this laptop, although the appearance is different. I'm agreeing with some of the overheating statements. After playing CoD4 for a few hours, SpeedFan recorded the cores at 170F-180F (~80C). Keeping it raised and having my room fan blow on it lowers the temp to 160F, although that's still pretty high. I bought a pack of two folding USB coolers (6$ via slickdeals) about a week ago and I'm awaiting delivery.

I have only taken my laptop to campus two times the first semester and not once last semester. The one occasion I brought it to class is when our professor recommended it. I noticed that mine was one of the, if not, the largest in the classroom. I also had one of the noisiest. The fan was running 50% of the time. Actually, just browsing SEN right now, the fan is on full speed and both cores are 167 degrees, but the HD is only 107.

I would recommend just building a gaming PC. I wish I would have, because I don't seem to move my laptop around a lot.

In general I'd recommend building a gaming PC like Merrell said, given that you're only going to be using it for gaming.
I personally carry my laptop almost everyday now, I always have plans to do, models and other things and since I spend almost the whole day in university I have to carry it so I can work on those things while I wait for another class and all.
Unless you're going to be carrying it and stuff I'd recommend a desktop.

While the gaming PC is nice, I want the option of being able to move it around.

Can run Crysis and Crysis Warhead in high settings. That means you can run anything.

On a GeForce 9700M GTS? I don't fucking think so.
