Wierder then mess to me. I have 3 units on my entire map placed. Big terrain and i guess i have map revealers for all players that has units. Very few triggers and only 3 locations. I'm sure this is from the map revealers but i'm clueless as to how to avoid the unit cap and reveal the 256x256 map to at least 6 players and have a total of 8 players including computer players.
help? thnx

give map revealers to a computer player and turn on shared vision.

An alternative is to remove fog of war altogether, so the terrain is visible from start, then share vision amongst all players.
That way you need no map revealers at all, but still everyone sees what's going on for P1-8.
well i'm sorry i put this out so fast i guess i was tired. anyhow was wondering will the fog of war thing work for only players buildings or will it cover the entire map? because atm i don't have plans for buildings to cover entire map. its more like a gameboard that's has some big blank spaces, but i need to see the entire board.
also do map revealers count as units in leader board?
I'm thinking if i can't do fog of war trick i'm going to need to split the revealers between at least 2 comp players so i don't max either of them on the map as i will need to place other stuff even if its only 1 set of map revealers.
None.
Is that what you mean? because you just do that for whatever player then make all the human players shared vision with whoever owns the map revealers.
None.
yes but i'm concerned that i will waste all my units that i can place for a comp player on placing map revealers. I'm wondering if i need to split up the number between two comp players or if i can use the Fog of War thing to get buy with zero units which would be best imo.

What NudeRaider is saying is to go into the Fog of War layer, remove all the FoW, then spam the shared vision scripts so people are forced to give each other shared vision.
example trigger:
Executes for:
All players (or whatever)
Conditions:
Always
Actions:
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 1"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 2"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 3"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 4"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 5"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 6"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 7"
Run AI script "Turn ON shared vision for player 8"
Preserve Trigger.

my point i guess is why do i need the shared vision crap if fog of war is removed? Does it reveal the entire map or only what each player sees due to control of its units and buildings? They second one just won't work for me which is why i'm trying to better understand what it does.
None.
If you have a map revealer placed, that spot is visioned forever. (Unless you do a "Remove all Map revealer For Player X")
If you have vision with a person who has a map revealer, that spot is visioned foreever. (Unless you do a "Remove all Map Revealer for Player X")
If you have Fog of war removed in a spot, and explore it, that spot will remained visioned forever.
If you have vision with a person who has Fog of war removed in a spot, you will see that spot forever.

This above (I'm pretty sure) is correct. It's the guidlines I've been going off of since I started mapping. It may be incorrect, as I've never really came across a problem with
following these, but then again, I think chances are pretty slim.

Fog of war is like you have explored every part of the map before. You should know this behavior already from regular StarCraft but I'll spell it out for you:
The TERRAIN will be revealed forever, the BUILDINGS are shown until you update by getting vision to that spot again and UNITS will not be shown at all, that's what you need the vision scripts for.
Or in other words, it removes the blackness on the minimap, and covers the map in greyness, but will not completely reveal it.
Also, there's no limit on placing map revealers for a single player, except the total unit limit of 1700. Map revealers of course don't use up supply, if that was your fear.
Oh and in case it matters (e.g. P12 dts), neither removed Fog of War nor Map Revealers show cloaked units.
ok i see so basically fog of war will still be there as though i had explored it therefore i would see the entire map but wouldn't be able to click on buildings unless i have vission from all players. This could work but we will see. I will most likely use map revealers.
Was just trying to get a clear answer as i could not do any testing last night due to macro trigger program installation that took 6hours. i didn't realize it would take that long
as for the unit limits i guess i must have been using another map maker that limited how many units i could place per player depending on the number of players. That is what i remember because i made one with a cap once and could no longer place units for that player. This was outside the total map cap.
None.
StarEdit only lets you palce units up to the maximum supply of 200.
For example: You could place 200 Terran Marines (200 supply) for Player 1, and then be able to place as many Jim Raynor Marines (0 supply) as you wanted, but no more Terran Marines, Goliaths, etc.

That's why you
make Hero units "Regular", and Regular units "Heroes". use ScmDraft.
yea i do now i didn't realize it had changed in scm draft compared to regular edit.
anyhow i must use map revealers because not all areas of the game will have buildings next to them and thus you wont see the proper color which is key in order to tell what your doing. thnx for help guys. ill put on my map revealers. problem solved thnx.
