Once a friend of mine was hosting a lot of joke maps, just to see who would join. First he did a joke strip map, the game had half a full house of either perverts or thirteen year olds. He also tried Gay Guys only! And had 1 guy saying ''Faggot.'' like the biggot he is and the rest of them bitching at him. This time the ratio was 3/8, just below half of what SC can take. Next he began to try weirder ones, a lot weirder ones. Young boys, two people joined. Young girls, three joined. Necrophilia, thankfully none. And the most weirdest of outcomes?

YIFF! Furries Only! And there came a Full house, and they all asked him to go followed by an emoticon ("XD")

So, of course just because he had a full house once, that doesn't mean eight out of eight sc players are Furries, obviously. but it turns out a lot of my friends on SC are furries O.o, and a few of them are gay. Now, I my self am quite open minded and I'm also quite curious.. What type of players do you think cover Starcraft the most? Aside from the usual ''Straight Male.'' Stereotype.

*Technically this is about Starcraft, but very loosily*

I'm going to have to say furries probably dominate East B.net. The majority of the furry population is on the East coast and most of their existance is restricted to online forums and games. Not suprising that a lot of starcraft players are gay or curious. The steriotypical nerdy starcraft playing loser probably has very little contact with the opposite sex and eventually excepts that the only way he's going to lose his v-card is with another guy. Id have to also include anime whores and people who love to role play and cant get enough of fictional fantasy worlds and rpg's and what not. I've definitely noticed too that stip maps fill up full and fast, but given the general age group, most kids arn't lucky enough to have their own computers to spend endless hours surfing for porn with and it's the best they can get.

I rarely see any porn games @USWest, just in the mornings its like an asian parade of games. Most have english titles, and none are porn-related so far as I can tell. So my opinion is that the stereotype "Straight Male" dominates West. The evenings are more diplomacy and strategy games and the afternoon its all latency with a few games able to be played. Again, once in a blue moon like once every two weeks there is one of those "Sexy Pic" games or a "strip _____" etc. On east there's more of those and there are rarely any diplo games :(

Anyway I would have to say that trigger is right about East but West is mostly the strategic games and RPG's.. Not to mention MOTS which my friend made.. But I do not like MOTS. Or any battle maps really. So West is the more non-porn gateway. God knows what will be on Europe or Asia...

Holy crap! Your avatar is awesome! How the hell does it change colour like that!?

(Coughs)

Yeah, I know a lot of furries from Starcraft East, so I'm almost next to agreeing that there are probably as much Furries as Straight people (Especially considering that Straight people can be Furries, which of course only raises the odds furthermore)
A random conclusion that some people could draw, if they put enough time into such an argument is that Furries are strategic.

I mean, if someone wanted to they could probably argue that anyone with an animal title is a furry. (Like Hitler, "The Wolf." Rommel, "The Desert Fox" and numerous others) Wouldn't it be weird if Hitler was a Furry? By day he was practically the closest thing to an actual evil. And by night he was all...Furryish?

furries and their lot are found in RP games and channel sex, no where else I think. So I have yet to see a fury when not looking to mess with them.

Well, furries aren't that bad. They're rather...hmm different? But at the same time they're usually at least a bit smart, and very kind to! =D. And about that little joke about Hitler and dogs... I wonder how much Racists/ Neo Nazi's are on SC? I suppose I'll have to check into that. Either way, by far I found about three from experience, and they all turned out to be idiots.

If you see Sindri, G-Z-A. I suggest you ban them at once. Sindri will ban you over dumb reasons, and G-Z-A on the other hand takes spazes very easily and will insult you with "Faggot, Fag." and all those other cliched insults which annoy me. Now, to give you a full understanding of him...

Here is how he reacts to ... -

Just a joke like - ''You're only attacking my poor lil' orcs just 'cause they're green.'' He will react - ''Shut Up, Faggot.''

And if you attack him, well... he'll curse even more hysterically, I mean he'll be like hell if you win. Aw well, it's worth beating him just to say swear at him a bunch of times before he loses the game n.n

There are b.net players that will act all wierd when they find out they are playing along side a girl in a game. I owned a clan about 4 years ago, and one of my members was talking to another person in the channel, saying that he found a channel full of girls. So what did he do? He pretended to be a girl also, just to talk to them. But what if the girls were guys too?

Thigh high affectionado

I belive this topic should be called Diversity of my Friend list, rather the starcraft. Few good reasons.

A. Sex Channel usually doesnt interact with StarCraft or UMS in general, and vice versa
B. This knowledge so far posted only shows things you have seen, and most being only present, it doesnt represent StarCraft in a whole.
C. You're talking about your friends

Well, the things he knows are the only things he can go on.
Given that he asks for our views on the subject within the thread, not for our views on his friends list, I'd say the title is actually appropriate ( or more so, rather, than your suggestion ) .

What, not both? =P

Depends on population sample. Most that I know aren't especially "hmm different", yet within those groups that do include weirdos, intelligence seems to be rather on the lower end, in my experience.
Then again, my own perception is likely biased, as my social experience is predominantly with anime/furry nerd culture in the first place.

Starcraft has pulled in all sorts of different people. Hell, a porn star could play starcraft and we would probably never know. "Furries" are different, and can even be younger than 13. Did you all forget that 10 and under year-old kids play starcraft? Although now a days you see more adults and mature players on starcraft than it was 10 years ago. Everyone can be perverts, even 7 year olds. And [EDIT] Darkmarine is right, some of these people we talk about are and could possibly be our friends online and off. Its always open to possiblilty.

I never stated contrarily, and noone else here has, so far as I've interpreted.

"Furries" are different,
In what way that is relevant to the thread?

"Furries" have been refered to this entire time (or nearly) in this topic. That is how it relates to the thread. Furries are different and viewed differently than the stereotype straight male on starcraft. That is diversity right there.

Oh, the furries thing.
When you stated ""Furries" are different", was that in contradiction to my related counter-statement?
If not, then why did you say it?
If so, then I would like to point out that I phrased myself as I did ( "[they] are not "hmm different"" - the latter two words being a direct quote ) because I was speaking in the same context as SHaDoW_FoX ( regarding what furries are like, not their relevance to Battle.net demographics ) .

Just here for the activity... well not really

People on Starcraft are not different from people on the internet. The majority of the "furries" are just attention whores.

My...this topic sure gained in popularity... o_o. Sadly though I'm not sure if I can really think of anything else to say or share to expand this topic any further. I guess the most I can think of to come up with is to merely state why I didn't include female SC players.

Well, the first problem is that if I were to do that I'd have to host a map called ''Girls only.'' and technically that would be troublesome since I my self am not a girl...The next problem would be some guys would probably join just for a joke, or perhaps because their were a lot female sc players. And the final problem, every SC girl player I knew (Which were a lot.) they some reason why all didn't get a long with each other :(.

And to further back up my statement that I knew a lot...

Frozen-Soul
Amy_Chan
Sie_Sayoka (There's been a lot of rumours that she's really a guy. But I'd prefer to trust her word.)
Sophie

And, I'm not sure if Laura would count since she's not on my f list but we kind've have a history.
