Hopefully I am not the only one who still plays this outdoor game. Teams of people get together and have to steal a flag from the other team, and bring it successfully back to their base without getting tagged (or tackled) by members of the opposing team. If such an event occurs, they are forced to go to a jail deep in enemy territory, where they must await to be freed by another of their teammates. The winning team is one that successfully brings the opponents flag to their base.
Recently I have been having the urge to start up some games of this old sport, possibly with actual flags and variations on rules, for instance maybe more than two teams at one time.
I was just wondering if anyone else still thinks this is the coolest game ever/still plays this awesome game.
None.
I used to play games like this on a daily basis when I was in England, however the Canadian lifestyle seems a lot different from the neighbourhood I came from, here people would rather waste money on 20 minute bowling sessions, over priced meals or something stupid, but actually getting outside into an open field and playing a good game of manhunt or capture the flag as you suggested, is completely off the roster of things to do. Sad really.

Agreed, it's the same in my area of Canada.

I used to play CTF a shitload back in the day. It caused a lot of fights but overall it was fun. Haven't played it for years and years and years. At a summer program thing that I went to this year there was a campus wide CTF that I didn't end up going to because I had homework. I'm not sure how it went but it sounded awesome on paper.

I had simmilar at a camp. The grounds were divided into 4 and when you took a flag the team that owned the flag was assimilated into your team.

See in England, all we did to organize anything was say "let's play this" then we'd go up to all our friends houses (we lived in a really cool sorta of community set houses, where getting to all houses was easy, and you could see everyones houses from your front door) So then we'd knock on the door and be like "are these people here?" they'd come to the door then ask them to come out, we'd get them out, pick teams then go... though as previously mentioned, it caused a lot of fights because teams would always be slightly imbalanced...

I played Capture the Bacon.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
We used to do this with my friends but with some modifications.
Usually you had to find the "flag" in the other's people spot but to win you had to set it on fire. It was more fun because we played with fireworks so when you heard the noise of the thing exploding in your base you had lost
fuck you all
Only with the school band.

I liek CTF. It's really fun. Once I was playing it with a bunch of StarCraft nerds... We kept shouting out random StarCraft stuff. Like, whenever someone sprints they would shout "Oh yah, that's the stuff!". I was being a Zealot for some reason... "Retrieve the flag for Aiur!", etc. And if I got out and then was rescued, I'd shout "I have returned". Good times.
Corbo: Sound crazy but fun. I wonder if I could get my brother to play that... but with him as the flag.

You need a game as an excuse to shoot fireworks at your brother?
None.
Manhunt is better, you need to many people for CTF ;o

Isnt it like...Tackle Tag?

I haven't played Capture the flag in way too long...
It stinks, cause where I live, its a really new area, and is still expanding by a gross amount. In the past 10 years, we've built 3 new high schools, and they're all overcrowded already...

Capture the Flag is the best. I was the champion at it back in elementary school.
I wish people would play it nowadays.
