- A map by Darkling@USEast
Modern Warfare
Overview
☼ Two forces locked in an epic war, with guns blazing and blood spilt left and right. The map is split into 2 factions, the one in the north, and the one in the south. As a player, its your job to attack and defend from the other side, while supporting the front line once your men grow strong enough.
☼ Begin by taking control of a simple officer of war, commadning a small battalion of troops. As the game makes way, you can eventually upgrade your corps to include infantry units with better guns, Vehicles with more distinctive advantages, and Armor; your tanks.
☼ The game is a 4 v 4, with a computer on each side. The players start weak as compared to the computers unit of vastly superior units. To begin supporting your side, you'll use a SCV to build a Command Center at a location of your option. This is where it all begins for you. Your troops are spawned here, and also, this is where military supply convoys goto to resupply you. Build on the front line, and reinforces may not arrive quick enough. Build near the base and you're sure not to run out of troops to fight the war.
☼ The map is divided into various Command Points (Terran Beacons). At these CP's, you'll be ableto activate special bonuses, each side having symmetricaly placed CP's as well, except the center of the world. At the middle, the computers will be massing to reach the other side with simpler infantry. As the game progresses, you'll need to fight the war you might be seeing for a half an hour in the center.
☼ Players have the option to optimize their spawns, by building additional factories for the corresponding unit class. (Infantry, Vehicles, Armor) Up to 5 Barracks' (For Infantry.) Up to 3 Armories (For Vehicles.) Up to two Factories (For Armor.)
☼ On rank ups, the player will be able to advance 6 levels of things. Infantry spawn, Vehicle spawn, Armor spawn, Weapon Attack, Defense, and Max HP.
☼ The last three upgrades (Attack, Defense, HP.) are signified by the traits: Efficency (ATK), Tactics (DEF), and Leadership (Max HP). Note: When I say Leadership, I mean that each individual troop signifies hundreds of troops. At the max level, a thousand HP will be at your whim for infantry.
Summary: The game is a large attack and defense style "Tug-of-War" scenario. Each side will push back and forth unti strength is achieved to dominate over the battlefield.
Objectives
Rather simple plot. Destroy the enemies' Command Hub (Psi Disruptor), while attacking and defending Command Posts, and defending your own Command Hub.
To take CP's, you'll need to hold the position at one until 3 minutes have passed. During this time.. The enemy computer who is vastly superior to you in the beginning.. will send reinforcements to the CP, if they owned it to begin with. After 3 minutes, the post will be yours. Careful though, if enough enemies enter the capture location, the timer will be HALTED.
If a CP is neutral to begin with, then the capture time is instant. Just be sure to bring enough troops to the point, 3 vultures rushing them won't cut it.
The enemy Command Hub however doesn't work like a capture point. It will be strictly a measure of your strength versus their own. 9,800 HP, plus 250 Armor sounds like a tough target to crack. Tanks when fully upgraded though will have the power to hurt it significantly.
Players will also have the option to repair the Command Hubs, but it costs a lot of supplies (Minerals) AND time to do so.
Weaponry
In the game, you'll have the option to upgrade your units, from between 16 different units. 8 Infantry units, 4 Vehicles, and 4 Armor units.
Infantry:
-- Specs:
- 13 Levels. 12 to upgrade.
- Build Barracks' to be able to spawn infantry. Each Barracks multiplies "Platoons" by 2, and "Marksmen" by 1. Up to 5 Barracks' per player.
- Each Infantry unit starts with 1,000 HP. Your HP can be upgraded 9 times, therefore enlarging the size of your platoons.
- Attack and Armor increase naturally as you progress through leveling Infantry.
- Infantry deal good damage to each other, and when upgraded, your men will pound away easier at tanks.
- Armor units deal reduced damage to infantry, therefore you won't get slaughtered if you see a tank.
---
Marine -- Platoon [M4A1]

2 Damage (+2) 1 Armor 1000 HP.
Ghost -- Marksmen [M-16]
Standard Rifle marksmen unit. (Aquired to spawns at Inf Lv. 2)
2 Damage (+2) 0 Armor 1000 HP.

3 Damage (+3 [6]) 2 Armor 1000 HP.
Gui Montag -- Platoon [N.Flamethrower]
Napalm Flamethrower Infantry unit. Pounds at anything even more if it can get in close. (Aquired to spawns at Inf Lv. 7)
6 Damage (+6 [12]) 4 Armor 1000 HP.
Vehicles:
-- Specs:
- 7 Levels. 6 to upgrade.
- Build Armories (Vehicle Production Factories) in order to spawn Vehicles. Each Armory will increase the multipler to spawn Vehicles by 1. Up to 3.
- Each Vehicle unit starts with 100~200 HP. Your HP can be upgraded 9 times, therefore enlarging the size of your units.
- Armor starts at a base 50 for all Vehicles. All units except Heavy Tanks and Howitzers (Plus the computers semi rigged Artillery Emplacements) will barely tickle them. Vehicles start with 10~20 HP. Its actually quite a lot if it can take 10~20 or so shots.
- Vehicles deal supurb damage to Infantry, and deal fair amounts of damage to Armor units and other Vehicles.
- Your Vehicle level also determines what level of supply transport delivers supplies to your Command Center. (Reaver -> Dark Archon -> Corsair.)
---
Vulture -- Humvee [.50 cal]
Standard Vehicle unit. It'll knock out infantry units with ease; too bad you can only get a few. (Aquired to spawns at Veh Lv. 1)
40 Damage (+10) 50 Armor 200 HP.
Jim Raynor (Vulture) -- Hummer H2 [.50 cal]
Advanced Vehicle unit. Its faster and stronger then the Humvee. And it comes standard with Air Conditioning! (Aquired to spawns at Veh Lv. 4)
50 Damage (+10) 50 Armor 200 HP.
Goliath -- Anti Air Site [AA Guns]
Basic mobile Anti Air weapon. An anti air weapon is required to be able to hit aircraft, such as this one. (Aquired to spawns at Vehicle Lv. 3)
5 [10] Damage (+5 [10]) 50 Armor 100 HP.
Hydralisk -- Demolitions Team [Explosives]
Demo Team, good at blowing up Armored units and Buildings. They can also plant C-4 by morphing into a Lurker. (It costs quite a bit for a C-4 drop however.) (Aquired to spawns at Vehicle Lv. 6)
50 Damage (+5) 50 Armor 100 HP.
Reaver -- Supply Convoy [Supplies]
The first supply convoy unit. Rather slow; if the enemy wanted to ambush your convoy's route, this would be their target. (Aquired to spawns at Vehicle Lv. 1)
0 Damage (+0) 50 Armor 250 HP.
Dark Archon -- Supply Convoy [Supplies]
The second supply convoy unit. Moderate speed. (Aquired to spawns at Vehicle Lv. 4)
0 Damage (+0) 50 Armor 250 HP.
Corsair -- C-150 Transport [Supplies]
The last supply convoy unit. Fast, airborne, and it can lift off at the nearest Airbase under your team's control. (Aquired to spawns at Vehicle Lv. 7)
0 Damage (+0) 50 Armor 500 HP.
Armor:
-- Specs:
- 7 Levels. 6 to upgrade.
- Build Factories (Heavy Weapons Factories) in order to spawn Armor. Each building will increase the spawn multipler by 1. Only 2 may be built.
- Slow, but in some cases, the strongest unit availiable.
- Weak versus Armor enhanced Infantry.
- Strong versus other Armor units, and buildings.
---
Dragoon -- Light Tank [70mm Cannon]
First tank avaliable. Rather weak versus anything unless it is upgraded damage wise. (Aquired to spawns at Arm Lv. 1)
35 Damage (+15) 50 Armor 200 HP.
Fenix (Dragoon) -- Medium Tank [80mm Cannon]
Rather useful upgrade from the Light Tank. Decent Damage after the first attack upgrade. Has the largest mobile tank range. (Aquired to spawns at Arm Lv. 4)
45 Damage (+15) 50 Armor 200 HP.
Siege Tank -- Heavy Tank [95mm Cannon]
Slightly slower then the Medium Tank. Rather large damage value and good upgrades AND it has double the armor of other Vehicles and Armor units, but still weak versus infantry. (Aquired to spawns at Arm Lv. 2)
65 Damage (+15) 100 Armor 200 HP.
Edmund Duke (Siege Tank) -- Howitzer [Unfixed] -> Howitzer [105mm Cannon]
Long range artillery that packs a punch. It must be set up to deal any damage however. (Aquired to spawns at Arm Lv. 6)
45 Damage (+15) 50 Armor 200 HP.
Aircraft and Other Units:
-- Specs:
Aircraft have quite distinctive abilities, such as scouting areas, or bombing the hell out of them!
( THIS SECTION IS STILL BEING BALANCED AND CONSTRUCTED. )

Screenshots
These are some pre production / in production screenshots. None of this is final.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
- A picture of one of the bridges I made with Square Terrain. That's the northern teams way into the central base. There sure are plenty of defenses sitting there..
- Some war footage, between the large armies of White and Yellow. These colors will be changed later.
- Additional war footage. Again, none of this is final, but it looks beautiful already.
Testers and Special Thanks
To become a tester, lemme' know here in this thread, or give me a whisper on SC. I'm Darkling@USEast if you didn't happen to read that up near the top.
You can also reach me at bnetling@yahoo.com on MSN or Yahoo. I'm usually on.
-- PLEASE give me your B.net account, and when you're usually on so I'll know if you'll be a good tester for the team. If you'd like to add anything else to your applicatio to test, feel free to.
The map is only currently in Alpha stages. Testers for now will need to have patience with me AND the map especially. Currently, the map is being held confidentially to prevent stealing.

- YOU! Gimme' your applications.
Special thanks:
- Dark_Marine -- Hes going to do a few triggers that he did before with stacking units with sprites, to create an awesome looking Gunship, with 2 or 3 MG's outlooking from it.
Concepts
In this little section, I'm going to ask any question I feel or deem necessary for a public opinion. Please, if you're a tester, or interested in the map, your feedback is valuable. Post away. Or, if you're opinion is more confidential, PM's work as well.
-- Urgent Concepts --
"Mobile Factory Spawns"
I was thinking about maybe allowing troops to be spawned at their individual factories. Since you could divide your factories in an attempt to perhaps save half your forces for defensive purposes, and the rest for attack, you could split up your Factories and and become more proficient on the battlefield. There would be a catch, a large location would center on your Command Center, and you wouldn't be able to build outside from it. I'd like to know if people would prefer this over the first system I picked out; spawning all troops at your Command Center.
-- Not-so-important Concepts --
(None at this time.)
Notes from the Author
I've only been working on this 5/27/08. Its not been that long so, don't attack me for only being this yay' far.
Comments and Suggestions are always welcomed, go ahead and lemme' know anything. Any suggestions I take, the suggestor will become a part of the Special Thanks list... If that means anything to you. xD
