I too can vouch for this as for the last hour or so I have been converting the sound files and cringing in all their terrible glory.

Surely not ALL game logic? Probably stuff like character progression and items. I doubt it would sort out monster placement and spells, etc.; which would still be fun to play solo. Right? right??

We won't really know until the game is out (or people do manage to hack the beta).
But even if they can hack the beta to do something, it won't be the proper playable game.

Well pirates hacked Sc2 and i got to play around in the multiplayer with bots. I would be happy if d3 beta culd wlk around cast spells and kill monsters. Even just getting into the game to see what it is like, that is good enough for me!!

I'm in the beta, and it is apparently very short, unfortunately. From what I understand about the game, it is just like SC2 in terms of having to log into a Battle.net account to even play single player, but clearly that didn't stop people from playing single player SC2 without the game.
As mesk said, serverside games are totally different from client games like starcraft. It will be very difficult to make even basic gameplay before beta is released, and even after release the access to the server code will be still nonexistant, and will be extremely difficult to emulate. D3 won't be cracked as quickly as sc2, that's for sure.

I don't understand why Blizzard doesn't just adopt what EA used for Battle for Middle Earth and just end the game after a few minutes if you're playing the game using a different cd key than the one that the copy of the game you have is registered to. >_>

Occasionally Blizzard is pragmatic rather than dogmatic, and realise that if they distribute a beta so widely and try and keep it under NDA it just won't work. This isn't 1998 any more.
This can be seen with Hellgate's beta. It started off as a limited F&F beta and ramped up over several weeks, with several thousand people in the closed portion under NDA. Even when it was in F&F there were a few leaks, and they got more and more prominent as the number of people increased.
I kind of find it funny I am in the game data but didn't get an F&F key... well, I guess that means there's no pressure to release a video immediately when I do get it. I'll definitely focus on the details and such and snoop around.
