I have a unit that I only want to be able to fire it's weapon to the right. What I have right now is that unit unable to turn (which is what I want) and fires to the right, but at an angle.

I've messed with the arc settings, the best I can do is have it fire within a small cone, but the cone's big enough to fire in areas that I don't want it to be able to. The arc and arc slot are both at 0. What else could be wrong that could make it so it can fire at stuff not in a perfect straight line from it? (Or at least a drastically reduced cone)

Here's an example to show the approximate angle it can fire at:


I want it to only be able to fire at units within the lane (the units will be centered in the lane, so it should only need to be able to fire in a straight line).

Aight.

Photon cannons use a Turret object which largely controls the functions of the overall weapon.

So Data Editor > Data Type (Turrets) > Yaw Arc and Yaw Start
Edit these fields to set up the angles through which the turret can rotate.
Yaw Start - is the direction the turret faces when the unit is built (set this to 0 - ie: Right)
Yaw Arc - is the total rotation the turret has from the starting angle (set this to about 20)

Should be you. Don't have time to test this myself, but let me know if it works/doesnt.

Edit: You will also have to play with the Stats - Arc field on the weapon itself so that it acquires and shoots at targets properly.

Edit Edit: Also, ideally you want to have the Weapon Stats - Arc to something really low. And then use the Yaw Start and Yaw Arc to define where the turret can point. That will allow you greatest control over the 'cone' like shown in your pitcher.

I already removed the turret in the 'Combat - Weapon' field, that shouldn't be the problem. The turret doesn't rotate, what's shown in the example is where it's capable of shooting without rotating.

Not sure how adjusting that from 0 will help, adding very small amounts didn't help either.

EDIT: To elaborate, the red area is where it CAN shoot. I don't WANT it to shoot there. I want it to only be able to fire in a straight line.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

A weapon has 2 arc fields, maybe you missed one. Both of these fields in the weapon should be 0.
At least I know that other people that turned a marine into a tower accidentially achieved that the marine only shots into the direction he is looking (because he couldn't turn around [unit flag]).

Already done. :\

EDIT: Added a search area effect, should work now.

EDIT2: Now I just need it so when the weapon fires it continues moving instead of impacting at target location.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Is it auto-targeting the end of the lane, or units in the lane? Or in other words, are you trying to do this like Plants vs Zombies in that the missiles hit the closest enemies in the lane, or are you trying to have missiles hit every unit in the lane it passes through?

Trying to make it hit the first unit. I believe I got it, though. Set the Y offset of the impact location to -50 and it's now just targeting towards the end of the lane. The behavior I gave it is making it hurt the first unit it touches.

You can give the missile the "Suicide" behavior, and that will kill it after hitting the first enemy.

EDIT:
Nevermind, misread your question. Thought you meant you didn't know how to have the missile disappear after hitting one.

Having one (hopefully) last issue and I should be good to go. When there are multiple units in the line the cannon fires depending on how many enemies there are. So if there are 3 enemies coming down the lane, the cannon's firing 3 bullets.

EDIT: Accidentally had the max targets in the search area as -1, works now.
