For anyone interested in modding, a community member created something called Terraria+, which is a mod loader that doesn't distribute source code and has been approved by the devs. I'ts currently in beta, which you can apply for here: http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/terraria-a-modloader-for-terraria.33156/ .

So if someone from here applies for it and gets it, we're gonna pass it around here like as if we all got accepted to beta test amirite? :teach:

I finally have a ton of free time and I'm literally force to stay at home on the weekdays so I want to spend the time tryign to pick up C# so yea. Hook us up pl0x :3

I'm going to stick with mapping, though I've made no progress within the past couple of days.
I will try to continue again soon.

EDIT:
Memory usage after loading all 5 of my worlds.

EDIT2:
World -> BMP conversion (scale: 1 block = 1 px)

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/37/world1b.png/

The code to convert a world to a BMP is not even optimized at all, so it could literally take MUCH less time than shown. This is useful for minimap and world zoom.

We're basically at end-game items now on my port 7776 world, so I suppose it can be open to any of your characters now.

Heinermann, that's a pretty impressive speed. The current map to png (though it also logs gem, chest, heart, and other object locations) takes about 10-15 seconds to render.

Adding gem/chest/heart/object locations would add 0.5s MAX.

New stuff:

Just updated some drawing code, results: http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7272/clipboard85.gif

Yes blocks of different types are not yet attached (grass/rock/dirt).
The block's frames are also randomized like in the game.

EDIT: Jungle/sand/mud/rock orgy

I've uploaded a version of my game client mod that fixes the sign crash and related crashes caused by the new guide crafting help in 1.0.5 and it improves the stability of my chat enhancements.

Love that floating base.

Edit: Finished the treasure hunt. You can try it out on ShadowFlare's 7776 server. Lemme know how it goes. :awesome:

Edit Edit: Tweaked a thing or two.

Edit Edit Edit: Good job to those who found it!

Praetor

So I bought Terraria cuz it looks fun as balls. But I want to play it online. I found server things online, but they all feel so impersonal, and most are downright laggy. Anyone here join or host a small not-too-laggy server that we could play on?

I'd like to start playing it online when 1.0.6 comes out, looks like a lot of neat stuff is coming then.

Shady Shadowflare has one that runs 24/7. IP is 66.111.120.36. There's a bunch of different worlds spanning across different ports. Send a PM for the server password.

Looks like I'm going to have to try harder.
Although there aren't many features, and it is quite buggy, like puts hermes boots in pants slot, empty bucket doesn't work.
Doesn't give you cobalt shield so knockback gets annoying.

Note: it is Kernel32.idb not .dll.

Is this faster than the golden highway on 7776?

Aug 9 2011, 6:13 pm ShadowFlare Post #480

Server memory usage has gone down significantly, so it looks like I won't need to retire any old worlds just yet.

What size should the new world be? Medium or large?
