Back! Maybe.

This. And be more inventive with your heroes. I mean, seriously. Blizzard is already doing a StarCraft DOTA. Do something more interesting. On the other hand, I applaud your skill as a mapmaker. You're good with the data editor - I can't even begin to guess how to do that one mist thing with the banshee hero. But there's the problem again - "Banshee Hero". Get an imagination, dude! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "We live, as we dream - alone..."

I watched 2 minutse of the first video then died of boredom.
If you're going to spend so much time in creating something, at least make it original. The Ghosts Personal Cloaking? The Thor's Immortality Protocol? Jesus. What's next? A Zergling that can fucking burrow? Excuse my flame. But honestly, heed this advice and your map will be successful. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gone.

"all I can say is that improving the terrain will greatly help the map."
I'll start working on terrain after exams. I have quite a few plans for terrain such as allowing the host to pick from a library of maps, adding terran features such as mud which reduces movement speed or larva which damages units that walk on it and I may even create a map editor so other people can make hero attack maps. "Blizzard is already doing a StarCraft DOTA." Unfortunatly Blizzard didn't tell anyone they were making DOTA until October. When I started making Hero Attack (when SC2 was released) there was no indication from blizzard that they would make DOTA. Honestly, if I knew in advance that they were making DOTA I wouldn't have started this project. However, I've already invested a lot of time into this. Actually it's called Blizzard All-Stars now. They can't call it DOTA because Valve trademarked it. "I can't even begin to guess how to do that one mist thing with the banshee hero." Mist was actually one of the easier abilities to make. Some abilities took far longer to make. "But there's the problem again - "Banshee Hero". Get an imagination, dude! " I wanted to make the heroes easy to learn so that is why all the heroes are based on SC2 units. If a player sees a hero called SCV hero, they should know roughly its role (i.e. make buildings). "What's next? A Zergling that can fucking burrow?" Actually, the zergling hero can burrow, along with all the other zerg heroes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

1) Fix the Baneling Hero bug where if both die at the same time, it won't respawn.
2) Fix the Marine Hero bug. I think that when it dies while under the effect of Void Prison, it doesn't respawn and instead leaves a Pod at his death's position. 3) Fix the Void Prison: the visual never gets away, even once the effect's cooldown is finished. 4) It looks like you have some work to do on the balance of heroes. 5) Make some visuals at the Heal beacon. A fountain would make it nicer as well. Also, the heal should be a constant +1 energy/HP, and not some messy +14 every second. 6) When the game ends, after leaving, the Battle.net UI is bugged (it doesn't appear) and everyone must rejoin B.net That's all I could remember. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I commented on the 2 1.3 videos on YouTube. Just reply to them here, if at all.
Btw, why not be a little more original and make it a 3-way map? I was thinking it would be one as soon as I heard there were gonna be 3 races, I was disappointed. But honestly, I think, just what I've seen, that this map has potential. I'd like to try it myself, but I came 1 map too late in map night and people refused to play it again. :\ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'll have to look at the drop pod bug a bit more but my guess is that it has something to do with stunning and or killing a hero when they use a teleport item. (It would be nice to receive a bit more specific information such as if any error messages occured or if there was a text message that indicated the hero died, but it looks like I will have to work with the current information)
I've been able to duplicate the baneling bug and have determined that it only occurs if 2 banelings (or zerglings) die similtaneously while right next to each other. Given the way my item trigger works, it might now be possible to resolve this bug until blizzard releases patch 1.2 (which will fix the bug where heroes lose items when they die and will mean I won't have to use the massive work around that I am using right now). Though, I'll try to find a solution. "Btw, why not be a little more original and make it a 3-way map" In the near future I will start working on version 2.0. There are a number of things I would like to do for version 2.0 including: improving the terrain significantly, adding new maps to hero attack (possibly including 3 player maps) that players can choose from when they start the game, adding various terrain features to maps such as mud that reduces movement speed, larva that damages units that move over it, slippery ice, etc. and maybe even creating a Hero Attack map editor so other people can create their own Hero Attack maps without having to learn the SC2 map editor. Of course setting things up so that I can easily add new maps and new features will take a lot of work and planning so don't expect it to be done soon. One of the things that I'm sure many people dislike about DOTA and other AOS maps is that they could only be played on a single map (and almost all dota like maps have the same 3 lane setup). I want to lead the AOS genre into a new direction where there is a diverse map selection for players to choose from (similar to how players can play starcraft on a large variety of maps such as lost temple or scrapyard). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We played it again later on. Weren't you there? No, you guys abandoned me cuz I said 'brb' and only took 2 minutes. want to lead the AOS genre into a new direction where there is a diverse map selection for players to choose from (similar to how players can play starcraft on a large variety of maps such as lost temple or scrapyard). Sort of like LoL and HoN do it? They have a few maps each. Not sure about HoN, never played it, but LoL's maps are rather different. All 2 of them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Personally I don't follow LoL or HoN. However, I think LoL has 2 maps and HoN has 3 (atleast what I saw from LoL's website and HoN wiki), and 1 of each of those are pretty much clones of Dota's map. I read somewhere that HoN might release a map editor at some point, it will be interesting to see how that does. So to answer your question, not quite like LoL or HoN. I want to take things a few steps further. When 2.0 is done, hopefully you will see what I mean. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Or just use the handy little 'quote' button at the bottom of every post.Yes, yes, I realize it may be difficult for people to get used to something more original, but that's part of the challenge of it. In general, originality will benefit your map and make it vastly more playable. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "We live, as we dream - alone..."
