I think we need a mapping competition for SCII to help push us. My advice on it: No theme, finished project not required (to allow people to continue on their big, fancy projects instead of diverting time for this - otherwise, it may be more an obstruction than anything else), maybe judged a week after it starts. The reward? Winning the first SEN SCII competition ever.
I would host this, but I want to submit my current project for judging. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
None.
That seems slightly unfair given how many people don't have the SC2 Beta still. I'm for it happening the week of SC2's release, though.

First of all, anyone can get the editor. You torrent it, it auto-patches, and you can both make maps and test them.
Second of all, you want to delay motivation for mapping by several months? Hasn't the policy of doing it all according to Blizzard's open plan done enough damage?
None.
Let me show you how to hump without making love.

I would sponsor this, but I prefer the idea of making a shitload of maps for SC while it's about to go away. Leave the community with some good maps and best of all, everyone can participate. I would gladly hold a contest on the release date, until then... I would say no.
None.
I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

Yes. We need more sc2 maps made by SEN members.
I'm making a map, but I'm lacking spare time atm (serious business).
It would be more helpful, if someone would make tutorials now.
At least it would be good to have a review where you can change what.
(connections between actors, models, sounds, units, effects, behaviours).
For a sc2 mapping contest, it would be better, if it starts with the release date in my opinion.
So a tutorial contest would be most helpful now.

THIS.
Maybe we if senners would just openly condemn that stupid policy everywhere and every time we see it, then the admins will get the hint that we are just shooting ourselves in the foot by putting up with it!

We're already months behind. And a competition due-date of a week is strong motivation for me to get my physics system done soon. (2D stuff DONE)

I still completely disagree with torrenting the Beta.
As for motivation, our SC2 map making forums seem to be more popular than our SC1 forums at the moment. We are definitely behind other sites, but compared to how we were months ago, activity has grown considerably. I definitely see the benefits to the contest, I just didn't want to exclude those who would want to participate and otherwise couldn't.
If everyone else is for it, then it has my blessing.

I would love to enter this, however I do not have enough time at the moment to get significant work done on my map. Maybe after this contest we could have another one?
None.
More importantly, anyone can get the beta completely legitimately.
I agree, we need to hurry the fuck up and do things with SC2 before we get overtaken, if we haven't already. But less importantly, not everyone can play the beta, even if they can get the beta.

That is, indeed, very unimportant.
None.
I'm interested in this.
But a week long? Isn't that incredibly short?

This isn't necessarily for people to present completed projects, but just to show what they've done. This is to get people working. Weekly or bi-weekly (once in two weeks) contests to honor the largest contributors to mapmaking on SEN seem fine to me.

It's working already.

It would be completely irrelevant to give you guys a SC2 beta key as reward, right? XD
Anyways, I'm not sure it is a good idea as long as we do not at least have a DLDB that can support the SC2 maps, really.
Maybe launch the new DLDB with this contest? It'd be great! =)
None.
I'm in, haha
Already got a nice map under construction, four players
Oh and payne... stop repeating things about the DLDB again and again, please
