Hello, SEN.
Many times I happened to lose a post I was writing/editing for various reasons (such as PC booting, lights going out, browser crashing, ...) and, of course, this doesn't apply only to this forum.
I think "draft post" would be a nice feature: a way of
editing and saving a post without publishing it mandatorily while keeping the original post public in parallel. This could be useful for brainstorming and backing up.

Get the Lazarus addon for your browser - it saves your posts in case of crash etc.

Hi!
I am not 'asking' for third party solutions, I am suggesting an addition to the website's forum system.
None.
Yeah I figured that's what you wanted, but it would involve more coding to the site.
The question is - would it be worth the time and effort of the admins to code such a feature when third party solutions are available?
None.
I think using a third party solution would be easier.

Yeah, unnecessary. Thanks for the suggestion, Will. I've had this problem occasionally, didn't know there was an extension for it.
None.
It would also solve the problem for every website, apparently.
However, it might be worth looking into developing.

Yeah, the only problem is the effort. Although I've already figured it out, I made this suggestion because that's a feature that lacks in every forum I've ever frequented and I particulary find SEN really well programmed. Having a "Draft post" would be an addition to its differential.
By the way, I don't use FireFox and I am sure that I'm not the only one. This addon isn't available for everyone anyways.

I found Lazarus for Google Chrome. Just saying.
I suppose this can be coded with AJAX for Mac users... Eh.

For every paragraph i write, i Ctrl-C it
Third party devices work too, but i don't write that much

Link pl0x? I can't tell you how awesome it would be. My internet has a habit of disconnecting from the router which is only twenty feet away (wireless ftl...).

Just a thought: I expected to see people claiming that it's unecessary. But honestly, what would you say if I came here suggesting to make a shoutbox (pretend we don't have one already)? Since we have plenty of "third party solutions", such as MSN, Skype and AIM, and that it's much easier to use them instead of coding, there's no need for shoutbox because it's "unecessary". But today everyone uses it.
Going further with the premise, you realise that all features the forum has are "unecessary" when actually they're what make it cutting-edge.
Hope you think about that next time.

No. A shoutbox cuts through the mess of synchronizing all the messenger clients, organizing a permanent SEN chatroom, and making it easy to get on. This is completely replaced, without any issues, by a 3rd party add-on.
And I hate the term cutting-edge. Technological progress is not a knife. -_-

Group chatting BOTs at instant messengers can solve that "mess".
I think you missed my point. I'm trying to say that there will always be something already invented that can be used in place of anything we have here, but that wouldn't merit SEN.
About my term "cutting-edge"... sorry, I can't help it. My tech-vocabulary is pretty poor.

I haven't read the replies, but I must mention that the Draft mode in the Wiki is already buggy.
Fix it before adding one to the forum? :S

I use Notepad for long posts..
Just do ctrl+a, ctrl+c, then go to notepad and ctrl+v

This.
Also my FF 3.0 seems to do it automatically. I can't remember when I last lost a post.
The browser's what disconnects, the browser's what should save your work.
@Nude: Session restore is just wonderful... I think FF3 even keeps track of changes made to the DOM (such as AJAX shoutbox updates).
