Ppl that don't have viruses on their computers?
None.
You people who are afraid of getting them!
None.
I probably don't need one, since I reboot my comp every 90 days anyway, but since Norton comes with my computer, might as well, although once Norton's subscription runs out it becomes worse than a virus, since at least a virus has the courtesy to be covert about it's operations, rather than being quiet, Norton bugs more than any virus ever would.

unless someone can tell me of a really good free anti virus I will continue using avg
I am a Mathematician
I use Norton in combination with other unlisted things. However, seeing as they aren't "crappy", that option seems to be out of the question...
Wikipedia says
http://www.avast.com/ also offers free antivirus.
My router back home also offered a hardware firewall. Right now I'm using Symantec as required by the university to access the network, McAfee because I've a whole suite of (well they're rather mediocre compared to some programs, but they still are a TON better than nothing) protection programs, and a few other applications along the way. It's actually pretty hard to get a virus just by everyday browsing and downloading. Porn sites might give you spyware, I know there are some viruses on Myspace right now, but I believe you have to install stuff anyway, and I'd say the easiest way to get a virus is to install something you download off of Limewire or other non-reputable program/site, and a virus scanner will catch those programs most of the time anyway. Just browse safely, and you should be fine.

I've been using Norton Anti-Virus. It is pretty gay because I can't get updates anymore until I pay for it again. Why would I pay for it again if I already bought it for like a million dollars and installed it. It also misses a lot of viruses and spywares too. Such crap. Which one is the best anti-virus program?
I heard somewhere that Norton wants money more than happy customers.
I say the free AVG Anti-Virus is great! Also, download ZoneAlarm if you need a better free firewall, follow these steps if you want it:
1. Go to
ZoneAlarm's website2. Click on "Home & Home Office" under "Products" on the left side of the page
3. Click on the "ZoneAlarm" link (no extra words) under "Home & Home Office"
4. Click on "FREE DOWNLOAD" on the right
5. Click on "I only want basic ZoneAlarm protection", which looks like a graphic button
6. Download and run the installer and follow the directions
NOTE:
When I installed AVG Free Anti-Virus and ZoneAlarm and
then restarted my laptop I got to a blank screen when starting up. I cut its power (holding the power button) and the textual menu saying that Windows (XP) didn't shut down correctly, but I chose
not to go with the last known good config. It happened again, so I cut the power again and this time went with last known good config, but it worked.
The only problem I have now is that when I see the background before the Welcome screen (the pick-a-user screen), it glitch-jumps once and goes back; otherwise, it's good.

I heard that all companies want money more than happy customers. They generally tell everyone they want happy customers to get money.
kaspersky7.0 on one computer and AVG on the laptop.

i use webroot, it's okay i guess

Ok, I guess we can conclude from this thread that Nortaon is crap. I was right, yay.
I am using Antivir by Avira + Windows Wall (ya I know, lol. I don't need more, simple as that). I got a DLink router, which works well as a hardware firewall.
Well, actually I don't really need my Antivir, either. Haven't had any warnings for at least one year now. But when you have to download stuff from unreliable sources, it's always good to check for viruses before executing anything, just in case. Don't remember finding anything yet, though.

I have McAfee at the moment. I don't like it. Hasn't helped my system where it needs it, and just causes performance hits with updates and alerts going on when I don't ask for them.
I'm probably gonna get rid of it and go scanner free until my current computer goes kerplop. Hasn't picked up anything malicious in well over a year anyway, and I'm planning on buying a new compy soon anyhow.
None.
My anti-virus = none, my firewall = none. No viruses, no spyware for 2+ years (a trojan got blocked about 2.5 yrs ago when i still used mcaffee, before i switched to Fx).
lolz, who would use anti-virus on linux

When someone sends me a virus I usually download it on purpose. Then I get an hex editor and start looking for strings and such
Probably viruses get scared from me and run away.

AVG FTW
(and Spybot Search and Destroy)
None.
Avast. Why? Because it's free and no viruses have leaked since i started using it.
None.
Well, this computer came with Norton, so until it runs out, I have that.
I also have Spybot for those hard to catch spyware, and Ewido that can clean up trojans that Norton is too lazy to.
