Okay my dilemma: my laptop has Vista, and I only have 1 gb of ram. not enough
Possible solutions
A. Upgrade ram
B. Wait it out until my bro leaves and I get his (in about a year)
I also have Inabilitytodecide syndrome. Help?
None.
RAM is cheap. If you can tell me what kind you need I'll find you a good deal on newegg.
Everyone that I know who's upgraded their ram reports their computer ends up actually being slower.

I doubt your friends paid attention to CAS Latency and frequency.
CPUz is better

Everyone you know must have started downloading all sorts of crap when they got their new RAM, because when I upgraded mine, I noticed an immediate difference, especially at startup, as it took half the time to load all my programs that it was taking prior to my upgrade.

DDR2 according to SIW
I need to know the MHz as well. If you have DDR2 667 and I recommend DDR2 533, that wouldn't exactly help. And if you could get the timings (#-#-#-##) that'd be nice too but not needed.
Wow thats some slow MHz RAM. If your laptop can run it, because I've yet to see RAM with that slow of a speed, try this:

This is just a guess but I don't think he has 200 pin ddr2 ram. I think that laptop uses ddr ram.

DDR2 according to SIW
I meant logically. For ddr2 to be that slow it would have to be below DDR2-400 standards which would have to be a DDR-333 maybe? (or maybe he doesn't have it dual channeled properly or maybe something is damaged) I just don't know anymore that memory summary looks so wierd

I agree it looks very weird, I was just going on what info I had.
I'll take more detailed info, standby for patching

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
RAM's not that cheaper for laptops :C or else HP is trying to scam me
but YES GET MORE RAM. I am a Vista user and I have 1GB of RAM right now and it runs perfectly fine for me. Takes like less than 1 minute to fully start it's not slow or anything.
fuck you all
That helped a lot omginbd. It looks like the RAM I suggested is going to work out for you.
@Corbo RAM is dirt cheap, laptop or desktop. Perhaps laptop is a little more expensive.

Computer manufactures charge more because they make more profit. Think of it this way.
Kingston makes 1GB of RAM and it costs them $20. They sell it HP for $25. HP sells it to you for $30. Maybe with higher prices, but you get the idea.
