Okay, so I open my map file and start putting in units (I've been using that map for over 2 weeks now) and then I was going to put locations. I put a couple of them and suddenly this appears...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Something bad happened. Would you like to save a diagnostic file?
Yes No
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I can't even make any more locations, I can still put in new units or triggers and even modify their stats but no more locations whatsover! Furthermore, I can't open these maps in another editor such as X-tra, Forge or even the one that comes with SC... this is so frustrating, I was almost done with the map when this happened and I need a few more locations and triggers to finish the map. Can someone please help me?

Alright I put my problem in that thread but it seems that the only way to solve this problem is to downsize the number of strings?
Sigh... is there no other way to solve this problem?
None.
How much of the string section have you used?
You can check it at the top of the string editor (ctrl+shift+s).
None.
I used 7 more than the limit that is displayed on the STR Editor. I went 1031 and the limit was 1024 and it started crashing from that moment on.
None.
No, what's the % used. You can go over 1024 and still have the map playable. If you make a new map, you'll have 3.3% used. How much % have you used?
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
Well, rockz, theoretically you were supposed to, but it seems that everyone is getting bugs from it lately, so I guess SI needs to look into that, lolz, I believe that you are a heavy abuser of comments
The best way to comment is by using comments as headers for blocks of triggers, rather than commenting each trigger individually. Try getting rid of a lot of your comments, that should fix the problem.

Around 50% used that's why I went over the limit, I didn't think it would cause any trouble but obviously it did. Before the problem I went over 54% by a bit and then this problem started. I also had this problem occur to me around 300 strings and it was really weird when it occured to me again at a later date.
Well, my dialogue sequences take the most out of my strings since I like coloring them, just can't help it. I use comments a lot too but not as much compared to the strings used in my dialogue sequences, which are around 30% of my 50% used currently.

Yes, but I don't think the percent used is the problem, I think it is the total strings, so just getting back below that 1024 limit should fix it, which is why I want you to delete comments, since they are usually unneeded, and they take up a string each, no matter how large or small they are, usually small.

Yea, I deleted already 200 comments and it's working again, thx for the help guys. I'm going to post the map soon, after Beta is done.
None.
I don't mean to double post but this problem is back again (if I edit, no one is going to reply because it's already at second page -_-)... and it's occuring everytime after I save a modified map once!
# of strings used: 880
% of strings total: less than 47%
The "Something bad happened" appears everytime after I try and save the same map twice in the same folder. I modify the map once, save, modify again after seeing some bugs, save, something bad happened. Than I have to copy paste, create a new folder save once and it works again but THEN if I want to save again I have to create a new folder and do this whole cycle which, trust me is very annoying, all over again. Gah, will reinstalling SCMDraft solve this problem, or has anyone passed through a similar problem before?
None.
Nope, I think you're experiencing something new, sorry I don't know if your map has been permanently messed up or what. It should be working though..
None.
Gah... just tough luck I guess... does reinstalling SCMDraft give me a better chance of... maybe solving this issue? Maybe my old map has this problem but at least I still want to be able to make new ones
None.
If you post the map here, some CHK gurus could take a look and see if something is wrong with it. But the way you described how moving the map temporarily fixes the problem, it almost seems like the backup database is broken.
None.
Is there a way to fix the database problem though?
None.
I don't really know much about SCMDraft, but the backup database appears to be stored in backupDB.scmdDB in the SCMDraft folder. Deleting or renaming that might fix the problem.
None.
Alright thx man, I will try that when I get back.
None.
Yeah, just delete the file and the entire thing will restart, but you might want to look through it first and make sure nothing is in there you would want to save for some reason.
None.
Aye, it works now, thx guys.
