Compression question?

Well I had to compress my map the other day because,it got to around 600kb so I removed the wav and compressed.
Then I reopened the map and it gave me this weird error message something about string corruption and such.(not the common one though)
So I just hurried and re added my wav file.I then did my normal fix and saved as something different.reopened and it said same thing.
So I then ignored and continued my work.Every time I got done with something though it was there waiting...
So yeah how the heck to fix this. This has happened to me twice for the same reason. Its not a big deal its just annoying.
It has happened on my team map,Total Invisible Defense and my map Line Tower Defense 2.

Some string must have been deleted somewheres. Go for the backups?

Note: If your going to protect, always make sure that you have a back up somewheres. ;)

Sorry, but the best way would be to go back to before you compressed. I don't see why you compress before you're done with the map anyway. You might also try osmap's compression, then instruct people to use osmap somewhere in the map to open it.

I compressed it before I am done because for one,I like testing alot, two I had a a nice size file, third some of my testers are on dial up.

I would say revert to backup. I would've tried to have refrained from using final compression in proedit on my non-final maps, since it says that it will give problems for most map editors. I think your best bet here would be to use something like OSMap2, or to go to a backup.

Go to backup go to back up thats all I am getting wow how smart lol.
This is kinda funny since I can still work on my map.I just have to deal with a annoying message and I am wanting to know how to fix geez.

Hey, you were the one who complained. Also, going to backup is the smartest thing to do if you're getting bugged THAT badly.

There was an occasional "use OSMap2" in there, also. :D

We gave you a solution: use OSMap2.

I cannot guarantee there will be no side-effects, though.

I only lagged because you added the .wav file. Other then that I was pretty quick. ;p

I don't even remember what my own program does damnit -.-"

If I remember correctly one of the things proedit did was merge strings. So if trigger A used string 1 and trigger B used string 2 but both strings were equal it would make both triggers A and B use string 1 and remove string 2.
The problem comes when you delete trigger A, since some editors might delete string 1 leaving trigger B string-less.
So yeah, do not compress until you have your map finished, and always save a backup.

?????

Well I have not deleted any triggers >.>.Its just one error message time i exit something in the editor(scm draft 2 0.8.0).I can probably finish the map though even with the mean message.

Compress with Uberation or OS Map, and see if it works.

Yes, I believe it has, otherwise LW would probably be updating it more often.

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius
