Post your favorite artists, albums, songs, etc. Give critique on bands, their songs, or original music. Discuss your favorite genres, argue your points, do whatever.

I'll start with some of my favorite bands (yes I'm linking to Myspace because it's an easy way to listen to music and get their site):
Rise Against - Kickass band, gives alternative rock a great reputation. Has a little screamo here and there too.
Panic At the Disco - kind of gives you a different feel on life. Some of their songs are poetic, others are techno, and some are love. They have a new album coming out too.
The Sleeping - I'm really addicted to this band, something about their guitar work draws me in. Great vocals too.
The Beatles - Greatest Band ever, it's too bad their getting old though. Watch the movie "Across the Universe" if you want a feel for their music.
Flight of the Conchords - Funniest band ever, don't care what anyone thinks. They have a tv show on HBO as well.
Mute Math - I'm in love with this band. Best techno/alternative ever.
Taking Back Sunday - Used to be my fav band. They haven't made anything impressive for awhile though.
The Fray - One of my favorite softer rock bands. Vocals really draw me in.

There are so many more, but I don't want this to go on forever.

The goal of the thread is to make a universal music thread. Excuse me if this thread has been made already, but I don't seem to see any active one so I made this. Maybe a sticky?

Just here for the pie

I like Rage against the Machine, they mostly do rock and alternative. And just because you requested a sticky you won't get it :bleh: .

Rage is good.

Meh, like I care. If you don't think people should deserve to be able to easily access music on this forum, than it's fine with me.

Sticky worthy? id vote yes

The used - Very nice lyrics and awsome vocals.
Three Days Grace - My favorite band hands down. I really dig the lyrics they use becuase its like their singing everything inside my head. But then again if your not into mainstream...
A day to remember - Note: they're screamo. They have the best growls I've ever heard in all of screamo history. Worth downloading.

their are other bands i'd like to post but im too lazy :P. Atleast you got like my top 3 bands ;)

Original Music Thread

Idk, I kind of feel that people's original work does belong in its own thread. I'm not gonna sticky this yet unless more people show that they care about it in general. There's already the 'what the heck are you listening to' thread in null which is similar to this, too.

Favorite Genre
If it wasn't obvious, my favorite genre is classical music. In particular the romantic period, although before twelve tone technique became popular. I liked the thematic emotional development. Such has not been seen in almost all modern music, where songs generally take on one or two different feelings in a single song. (It's either a happy song or a sad song.)

Aside from invoking an emotional spectrum, I enjoy a song that has purpose behind it. I like artists who's lyrics are about real world problems and who talk about societal issues, rather than about a hot chick, or being in love. I loathe almost all of those love songs, and one would need to have an incredibly catchy riff for me to consider it well made.

I also enjoy artists that strive for an original sound. That is who incorporate different instruments / rhythms / feelings than normal bands.

Yeah, the beatles don't have a myspace, i figured most people would know who they were though.

Shoot, forgot Led Zeppelin. But I really didn't want to include that much anyway.

Well, i saw that thread but i realized it was "your own" music. I felt that other more or less professional bands should deserve recognition.

I like your tastes Rantent, I will look into them.
