Okay I'm noticing a phenomenon where if I create a medic at a location, doesn't matter which, and then MOVE the medic it keeps trying to return to that location.

Can anyone shed any light on this behaviour?? I want this medic to be healing another computer controlled unit - and right now this phenomenon is preventing that.

Hello

I write this from my memory. Been ages since I have played around with the editor.

Computer controlled medics have their own built in AI which pretty much is like every medic has a beeper and they are to move to whoever needs to be healed. You have a map (256x256) and a medic on the top left corner and a 39/40 hp marine on the bottom right. Medic most likely is trying to get to him (even though 'tis but a scratch). Further do medics sometimes appear to try to spread or group somewhere on the map. They also try to head to nearby detectors to blind them all by themselves (most AI scripts are triggered by "taking damage", but not this one. They just do it.). I suspect, that medics are always trying to find a good chunk of army and walk to them on the map, but I have never really studied this subject.

So:
- Any AI Script? This would probably make it worse.
- Damaged units somewere on the map?
- Researched blind grenade? Having detectors?
- I think they even use restore at rare occasions, yet again having a great scan radius.

What to do:
- Disable all 3 abilities and check if behavior remains
- If not: enable one after the other to check which one causes it
- If behavior remained: have fun studying the subject.

No, but seriously, I am not sure I could help you on the last point.

EDIT: You are asking about that specific phenomenon and I think it might be linked to above stuff or just be part of another medic ai script. Anyways, maybe giving the medic to neutral, move it and giving it back might work.

Okay I've found another problem involving medics healing allies. I know medics can heal human allies because I've already done that and it works. But right now it seems like my P5 medic isn't healing a P6 infested kerrigan right next to it, even though they're allied. It does heal P5 infested kerrigan though...

EDIT: Okay I'm not 100% sure of that issue but I have done a workaround so I no longer need help - thanks all! :D

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

Even though this is solved, for future reference:

This is standard behavior known for all units under certain conditions. I just can't seem to remember exactly what the conditions were. IIRC it applied to created (not preplaced) units without an order. AI may also play a role.
Problem is medics need to be without order to perform their healing duties best, but you could try to let them patrol.

sounds like moisture control is often a pressing concern in your city
