What programs should I use for modding?

I'm new to this and just wanted to tinker around with modding a bit, I'm following the "How to Write a StarCraft Mod III" tutorial.

I have DatEdit and WinMPQ, both seem to be working fine, but I'm having some trouble with MPQDraft. I click "load mpq patch" and do everything according to the tutorial but when i click finish nothing happens!

I read in a post the most modders use firegraft now so I downloaded it and it looks NOTHING like MPQDraft. Could somebody point me towards a good tutorial for it? I've been searching for a few hours now and all I've come across is outdated tutorials that don't even use firegraft =/

Since I'm just doing this casually I would rather use MPQDraft if that's even viable, since it seems so much simpler.

Note: I'm on 64bit windows 7 and i suspect that may be the root of my problems with MPQDraft

Edit: the SEMPQ works fine tho

Are you using an extremely old version or more recent? There are some very old versions floating around that have bugs that keep them from working on some Windows versions. The most recent one (though not very recent, still much more recent than the old one floating around) can be found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpqdraft/

thats exactly where i downloaded it from lol... well once i found that the self-executing mpq was working fine its not TOO much of a problem though inconvenient that i have to make a new exe everytime i want to test =/

Vrael -- It is, and I could definitely use a company with a commitment to flexibility, quality, and customer satisfaction to provide effective solutions to dampness and humidity in my urban environment.

Vrael shouted: Idk, I was looking more for a dehumidifer company which maybe stands out as a beacon of relief amidst damp and unpredictable climates of bustling metropolises. Not sure Amazon qualifies
sounds like moisture control is often a pressing concern in your city

Vrael -- Maybe here on the StarEdit Network I could look through the Forums for some Introductions to people who care about the Topics of Dehumidifiers and Carpet Cleaning?
