Thought I'd give this a read since you QQ 'd in a another topic about how you didn't get the amount of attention you wanted here. Given that I'm not bothering to read points I bring up that you may already have addressed.
So I've decided to wait before voicing any comments or concerns about this package. Six months may still be a bit early to some, but to be too early is better than to be too late. This summer I have been listening to news radio as they actually talk about, things that matter today, unlike the media today with all this Michael Jackson died boohoo, Sarah Palin is a quitter lololol, omg lost children omgomgomg, etc etc. Daily, they talk about what's going on with our economy (Obama) and events going on around the world (Iran, N. Korea, etc.) I must say I wish I had gotten into radio news talk earlier.
What shows would these be? What direction do they lean? Is it physical radio(and/or local), or internet radio.
Also, I'm not just asking to possibly call attention to a bias. I've been searching internet radio for some good news talk and I've been pretty underwhelmed.
Not gonna quote anything in particular here, but your first big paragraph doesn't have anything to do with obama really. Just how when democrats get stuck in a tight spot they resort to attacking president bush. Sometimes it's just a quick way out, but most of the time the reason is to draw a parallel, and this is legitimate. When someone criticizes for debt spending, it's REQUIRED to talk about how bush did it, and how he did it wrong.
Alright next you start going off on the stimulus. Well I gotta say I've tried understanding it, but it's probably the most confusing thing I've ever tried to comprehend (politically). So either I'm too stupid to really get it, or it's corrupt and evilly designed to confuse. While I think there is a good chance either way, I think most people refuse to consider the prior. I hope you are not one of those people.
Here's something conservatives brought up. What if, what if this $787 billion were instead of being placed into the government's hands via Stimulus Package, it were rather placed into the hands of the working American, the hard working money earning United States of American Citizen or laborer and circulated throughout our nation like the way our founding fathers wanted this nation to run like? How this would be done is to relieve us of our taxes for a bit (Essentially by not having to pay taxes the Government is in short handing money back to us.) Or something like that I can't remember exactly, but from the general idea of this would we be where we are right now? To be honest, I don't know. I would love to hear you guys' input on this.
That's actually what we did under Bush. People didn't spend, they horded. The idea is that 200k/yr earner john smith gets a tax cut, thus he has more money to spend, or further his business if he is an entrepreneur. The government makes up for this money by cutting back on welfare programs because the jobless(joe shmoe) will have better employment opportunitie, thus eliminating the need for them.
Turns out John Smith is a greedy fuck and doesn't play that way when he get's a break.
Now maybe you're talking about something like where everyone got like $1,000 in a government check, well I remember what I did with mine - student loans. Most people will probably try and pay off a debt, not buy merchandise. I'd rather see a tax break than this actually. Thank god it's not on the table.
I don't want to graduate from college and end up as part of the fast growing 10%+ unemployed individuals. I would also not like to see my parents once again get laid off and fumble through the job listings pages looking for a way to put me through school and support themselves.
I thought I read somewhere you said your doing an internship for your dad who has his own business?
Now I've just go to just say to you MA "WHAT THE FUCK!"
I don't know too much about the stimulus, but you mentioned how we are ignoring the important stuff like health care reform(something I know a lot more about), and that you made a topic about these more important issues. I too am growing tired of defending obama on this silly speech debacle and would like to engage in something important like health care. I come here hoping to set you straight in this, but this topic is void of what you mentioned
