Buying New Phone

I would like to buy a Nokia 6700 Classic. As far as I'm aware it is no longer produced, at least not by Nokia. I found a retailer via Amazon that has good reviews and is offering the phone brand new, not even refurbished. How can this be the case if the production line is stopped? Are they selling old stock that needs to go? Are they actually selling refurbished phones and I'm just not being attentive? Or is the production of the phone actually going on still, just not by Nokia but by some other company that got the licence?

Please advise. Link to Phone on Amazon

It isn't being sold by Amazon, so it'll be dependent on the seller. As for where new phones would come from, it's probably clearance stuff that never sold. Once a newer version comes out, the old version becomes obsolete and difficult to get rid of.

Looking through the two cheapest sellers, both of their storefronts marked this phone as new, with no option for refurbished. The cheapest seller offers each phone as either new or refurbished, while the second cheapest offers both options on a number of phones (meaning they would never have a reason to sell a refurbished phone as new).

The cheaper of the two only has an 85% rating from 14 people, while the other seller has a 99% rating from 378 people.

The cheaper one only includes the battery and charger, while the other seller includes any manual/software/accessories that are supposed to come with it.

I'd be confident that the phone would not be refurbished if purchased from the £189.99 seller. There may be a slight risk of receiving a refurbished phone if purchased from the £144.95 seller. I guess it comes down to what the guarantee of a new phone is worth to you (as well as whatever accessories were included with the phone, if any).

Thank you for the response. Are any of the extras the second company offers crucial? I have a sim-card from my current phone, I've used the 6700 model before. Is the cheaper offer a completely sufficient solution?

None.

It includes the phone, the battery, and the charger. If that's all you need, it should be fine. The other one won't have a SIM card anyways.

wth is starcraft

If its no longer produced are you going to find a company that will provide service for that phone? That'd be my bigger concern.

I never needed any service for any Nokia phone. :P

Anyway, I decided against the 6700 because it's too expensive, even though it's the best phone in the world for me. I'll probably get a Cseries which are inferior and cheaper.
