SO MUCH SUSPENSE

Sep 29 2012, 12:20 am Sacrieur Post #642

Still Napping

Flawless mafia victory because people can't read bloody effing rules.

Quote
During the night, the town sleeps and the Mafia strikes. A time-limit is imposed on the night phase. Night ends with a posted report of the killings and other actions that may have taken place. The killing reports include no clues identifying the mafia -- as well as no red herrings to throw people off.

How everyone managed to miss that is completely beyond me. Beyond me to the point of repeatedly banging my head against the wall after I died and I watched people actually fall for something so utterly obvious.

OH AND I AM NOT EVEN DONE YET. MAFIA ALSO ROGUE ENGINEER?

Come the fuck on people, that's so far out in left field.

---

It was by an extremely fortunate turn of events for the mafia that they killed me when they did, and they didn't plan to kill the TP. Which was also the fault of the town for not protecting me. So town, you deserved every bit of this, it's all on you.

I had Azrael pegged as mafia that night right before I died. I meant to lead a bandwagon against him the very next day. Azrael was the only one who could have pulled off the sort of deception I had seen, and he hadn't been the right kind of active; he hadn't even attempted to contact me, despite my being vocal for the town and a staunch supporter of Roy. But as I stacked him up against what was happening the pieces fell into place.

After I died, it kept bothering me that Mouse never got lynched, and I can't believe it didn't stick out to anyone. The only explanation was that someone else was lynched, which I later learned was a beguiler power.

No seriously town, you deserved to lose.

Pathetic.

---

And hats off to Az for a flawless victory.

Just here for the pie

GAME OVER!

Fire_Kame steps out onto the lynching podium to face a tear stricken crowd, her face obscured by a burlap sack. The noose behind her is fitted specifically for her head. One of the executioners rips off the burlap sack; the crowd wails in agony again. She stands there with a sense of absoluteness, like she was meant to be there, like she had been waiting for that day. The crowd falls silent in anticipation. One of the executioners adjusts the ropes.

"My fellow townspeople. Doctors, Detectives, Elders, Veterans, and all others, it is with great sorrow that I must leave you this way. But you have only yourselves to blame for your horrible misgivings. Instead of an honorable death you choose to put me before yourselves in this spectacle."

"No! We care about you - we would never-"

"SILENCE. Your lies and deceit mean nothing to me! NOTHING," she screams. Her formerly calm disposition melted away completely, replaced with the ravings of a mad woman. "I could have gotten to each one of you in the night! I could have saved you from yourselves!" She cackles wildly, gaze affixiated to the sky. Two of the officiants grab her wrists as the executioner fits the noose around her neck.

Just as the executioner was about to kick a lever to drop the floor beneath Fire_Kame, Azrael, Lanthanide, Raitaki, and FaRTy1billion tackled the executioner and threw him into the crowd of townspeople. They undid Fire_Kame's noose and threw her into the crowd as well. Everyone knew that they were the Mafia prisoners who killed Mayor lil-Inferno, and yet no one did anything.

Azrael and Raitaki announced the lottery, a chance for a few townspeople to leave freely. They had done it before as a means of mass execution with a false sense of security for each townsperson, and each townsperson was given a ticket. Despite the Mafia being outnumbered, no townie dared to rebel, each one selfishly clutching onto their own ticket hoping they would be safe, but none of them were. The first drawing was performed.

Generalpie's ticket matched the first drawing, and he was escorted onto the stage. Little did he know that first was the worst. Two Mafia men apprehended him and proceeded to savagely nail him to a wall. They then taped his eyelids open, as he would be the lucky one that gets to watch all of his friends be killed one by one. The second drawing was performed.

UnholyUrine was next, and he was escorted to the stage. A quick and clean approach was taken, and UnholyUrine was cleanly decapitated with an executioner's axe that had been lying around from the previous days. The third drawing was performed.

Fire_Kame's ticket matched, and she was escorted to the stage. The Mafia inquired her as to how she wanted to die, and as per request Fire_Kame's neck was collared by rope soon afterwards, where she was just a few minutes ago. The lever was kicked, and Fire_Kame was lethally suspended after fighting with a few feckless breaths. Generalpie's face showed more horror than ever. The fourth drawing was performed.

TiKels' ticket matched, and he was escorted onto the stage. He had been extorted into being a pawn before, and so he would die a pawn. Positively was the last townsperson to be in what was once a crowd. TiKels was given a gun and ordered to kill Positively himself. The Mafia knew he wouldn't betray them, as he didn't before. Positively attempted an escape, but TiKels propelled multiple bullets his way. After a few strikes, Positively was down and one of the Mafia delivered a heavy blow to the side of TiKels' head, stripping him of his gun.

TiKels was subsequently told in a forceful manner to paint the town red, and was given a paint bucket and brush. The Mafia that had the gun kept it pointed at TiKels the entire time, monitoring his progress. Once the town was painted red, Generalpie and TiKels were both anally lynched by Lanthanide.

Police sirens sounded, and the Mafia hightailed it out of there.

MAFIA VICTORY!

Post-game information will be out soon. This includes night actions, role PMs, Beguiler abilities, among other things.

I don't agree Sac. Other games the beguiler has had the power to re-colour people so that when they're lynched they appear as another colour, which then wears off some time later.

So it wasn't unreasonable for people to assume that's what was going on here: that the players that were later revealed as mafia actually were mafia all along and had been re-coloured, but that recolouring wore off the next morning.

In actuality it was the opposite: the beguiler power was effectively to re-colour actual townspeople as mafia.

Quote
You are the MAFIA BEGUILER. Your team consists of:

Azrael - Mafia Assassin
Lanthanide - Mafia Assassin
FaRTy1billion - Mafia Saboteur
Raitaki - Mafia Beguiler

The tools in your utility belt include:

Passive Abilities

Free Will: If you are constrained by the Rogue Engineer then you will automatically free yourself without the Rogue Engineer knowing, will still be able to communicate back and forth, and can't be killed by the Rogue Engineer unless constrained again. Only works once.
From The Grave: If you are ever killed through lynching or otherwise, you may cover yourself up with any role besides Beguiler, and the following night only, you will be able to use any actions of that role if the Mafia haven't lost.

Primary Abilities

The Trump Card: The final solution. If the Mafia are ever caught in a rut, then for the day The Trump Card is played, all Mafia's voting power will triple. May only be used once per game and during the day. Does not work during Mayor elections or the day afterwards.
Stalk: The Beguiler stalks someone during the night, noting who visited the target. This ability cannot be tracked by a Detective.
Puppeteer: During a night, the Beguiler may choose a player and redirect their ability on anyone else of the Beguiler's choosing if possible.

Secondary Abilities - These abilities may be used in conjunction with a primary ability.

Incapacitate: A target of the Beguiler's choosing, if not visited by anyone, will be knocked out for the night and the following day, unable to vote and use abilities.
Broadcast: You can broadcast a message of up to 200 characters that will be placed in the night post telling the townspeople how screwed they are or otherwise.
Chronology Reversal Reversal: If the Theoretical Physicist reverses time, the Beguiler is notified and may keep one action from reversing. (ie: if reversing time would bring someone back to life, the Beguiler may keep them dead)
lil later clarified a few things, such as Chronology Reversal Reversal being able to keep a lynch result, Free Will telling me when the RE tries to kill me and fails, and Broadcast being able to replace sections of his night posts and recolour if I include color codes.

Then why did you not believe me when I admitted to being on Az's side when you asked me about it after I claimed mafia on Skype? Was it my Vet claim + not being seen visiting people? ;3

After Roy's death, mafia basically ran the entire game. You should've raised doubts about me (or anyone else about anyone) rather than going with the 'obvious' lynch targets. Of course we would've targeted you sooner, in that case.

Since the shapeshifters change roles at night, but they actually didn't change the first night (meaning I was elder for the first two days) did my voting ability get used once during the election and once during the first lynch? I was wondering that.
