Here in Australia, we like to do cool stuff, and the latest in this cool stuff is kind of a big deal:

http://www.webpronews.com/survive-the-zombie-apocalypse-irl-in-new-real-life-first-person-shooter-2012-06
http://irlshooter.com/

Basically, it's laser tag meets zombie video games. Real actors are employed as zombies and occasional NPCs, you fight your way through a location with a squad of 6, you and 5 of your buddies. There are multiple stages, quests/objectives, and REAL LIFE ZOMBIES CHARGING YOU THROUGH THE DARKNESS! I want to go to this, but at the same time, I'm scared to go. I think I will wet myself.

Sadly for you Americans this is Australia only, but the NZ Senners (Lanth? Jack?) may be interested.

Some videos:

This may be the greatest thing since sliced bread folks.

wth is starcraft

This isn't unique in the slightest. Human vs Zombie games have been around for years in the states...some colleges offer gym credit for it. And some people get crazy competitive with it...they go to the mountains for a weekend and literally wait for death.com

Well it's $125 per person. You don't HAVE to have a team of six but you have to pay the $125 for all six people whether you have six or not. There is some sort of deal where you can play solo (I believe that is an expensive ticket). But seriously it would take balls to play that solo. Laser Tag in AUS is usually around $30, the extra cost would probably be to pay all the actors, among other things.

Personally I can see myself constantly trying to break the fourth wall with the zombie actors. XD

There is also a bunch of customisation options for the difficulty of the game. Like unlimited, limited, no respawns. Unlimited, limited ammo, etc. So that's pretty cool. I wonder how many zombie actors they actually employ though? At some point you would start to get familiar with all the zombies. XD

Also h v z games are a helluva lot cheaper than that.

Yer, well its slightly more realistic than this:

You said yourself you'd probably start memorizing zombies, how is that realistic! :bleh:

I disagree, you might memorize hot spots, but these arent computers. If they use their heads every game will be different in their entry/attack points and tactics.

I didn't mean memorise where zombies came from I just meant memorising the zombie actors faces. I think they would obviously reeuse them each level and maybe even multiple times per level (just how many actors can they have??). Of course its unrealistic to expect them to hire that many actors that every single zombie in the experience would be unique, that would cost a fortune!

And its no different to many computer games which reuse a limited number of character models.

Aug 21 2012, 5:04 am staxx Post #10

i see, well i guess depending on if they have a high quality make-up/prop artist it may be difficult to recognize faces as you would think they would make their zombies different looking on a regular basis, but then again this is probably highly improbable.

At OP

the two videos are exactly the same
Neither of them shows ANY gameplay, or even HOW they're going to manage this "IRLFPSRPdrfwiuoey" game

I am not impressed.

Also, your description of it sounds pretty much like a beefed up Lazer tag.
Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing - maybe if it's set up somewhere and charge people for entrance fee.
but it definitely isn't mobile, one can't just move the set to another place.

Also, the video editing annoyed the fuck outta me <.<

But some critics have shrugged off "Z World" as an exploitative and insensitive ploy to profit off the glamorization of Detroit's problems.

profit off the glamorization of Detroit's problems.
Why the hell not!? Exploitative and insensitive? Who's being exploited, the freaking rusty metal? Who finds this idea too insensitive, the broken concrete and graffitti? The obvious and legitimate concern with a zombie theme park is liability for dumbass customers who might get cut on some scrap metal or something, and this reporter thinks its too insensitive to use a barren wasteland for something constructive (or at least profitable)?

Funny how a lot of people commented on zombies being a "Fad" that will die down eventually. They're correct, however they fail to realize that something like this could be converted into a different real life first person shooter. Call of Duty search and destroy anyone?
