Updated the thread. Added a Systems section with the vitality system and the zombie spawn system. Updated The Overworld image preview. I'll soon be adding a Brainstorming section where I'll put notes to make it easier for people to suggest useful/non-redundant ideas.

The map is now at version 0.1.1, which includes a fully functional and complete zombie spawn system and day/night system, including day and night vision. I'll now be working on the effects of sound and the equipment/inventory system.

Well you said you were taking some inspiration for L4D, so that makes me think of a few ideas.

(Smoker)
Have a mutalisk or flyer unit that can drag individual players away from the group . Like, the mutalisk will fly over you, 'grab' you and then drag you for X seconds/distance. Shoot it down before it reaches you.
You could also have some sort of heavy health unit that will constantly order move an individual toward it, sort of like 'sucking' you out of the group. Everyone has to focus fire it to bring it down quickly. Maybe something additional like if it does successfully suck you all the way to it, it does some sort of power-hit.

(Screamer)
Cut L4D special infected. Basically starts screaming, bringing zombie alertness up to max level over time, you get vision of it (create remove spider mine) and have to kill it quick smart.

(Tank)
You could maybe have a really strong/invincible zombie that is either totally immune. Or immune to certain types of damage (small arms fire, melee weapons). Basically, this is a good horror aspect. Like in Amensia, a lot of the bosses you can't defeat, you have no choice but to RUN. At least, until you eventually get to a point in the game where you can beat this monster that has been terrifying you for so long.

This would add a very hectic element to players who are holed up in some sort of defensible position for the night, the 'tank' (a roamer, not really a chaser) would wander in and everyone would have to scatter, possibly losing each other in the dark, basically throwing all their plans into chaos. That would be so awesome.

MISC
Broken down cars/whatever could have loot in them but also run the risk of setting off car alarm.
Zombie Alertness could be represented in the leaderboard, along with other things like health and stuff.

I also would like a screamer appearing every once in a while but I don't think you should have to kill it, it should just happen every once in a while and then a random medic or infested terran or overlord comes over and comforts it, making it all stop.
Baby Zerg screamer? A ling? Kerrigan maybe?
