So like the title says, I'm willing to pay somebody here $25 (basically two large pizzas) to fix Hazard Zone's constantly glitching cars. You can get items off cars and corpses in hazard zone and they self replenish, it's a pretty clever system but something is breaking down. I can't really figure out what's causing it either - rather... I've given it a look an it's an endless chain of switches and death counts. Anyway the problem is after a short while the cars stop giving items when searched (the search just never completes) and this is problematic because cars give all the items that make the map fun, corpses only give basic items like food, drugs, beer or reanimate into zombies.

Anyhow, since the map was unprotected nothing is labelled and that's what makes this particularly challenging - although if it helps I have figured out that they used Magellan as their base action->result death count event tracker, they use Academies to start the item randomization after a search completes (1 for corpses, 2 for cars). Magellans at deaths 88=unsearched corpse action (aka starts corpse item triggers), 89=searched (does nothing), 90=unsearched car (triggers search timer which is an overmind dc ending in academies being set to 2), 91=searched car (does nothing). In game it seems like it's breaking down at the item generation (the search and search timer triggers have very few conditions so they probably aren't breaking down).

Anyway that's all I can say for now - I glanced it over and it should work - I'd imagine the original authors realized there was a bug and either knew how to prevent it (when they played) or simply couldn't fix it - or just intended it... although if you play the game that doesn't really make sense.

SEN doesn't support modification of (un)protected maps without the author's permission.

indicate that you don't know what the author's intention was, and if you did have permission to change the map surely you'd know their intent, or in fact the author could provide the original non-protected copy of the map for us to work on instead.

yah i was talking about the guys who made the original car/corpse system (that wasn't bioject and omehn). bioject and i were chatting a while back (may 2011?) and he told me i could edit the map which is how i got the original copy to make 1.9 and fix the mission glitches (google hazard zone [1.9] (p).scx that's the one i made) but when i got a new computer i lost all my unprotected versions so i'm going mostly by memory on the OP about how the system works. you'll note 1.8 is the one last updated by the original authors and that's what i was working off of.

edit: bioject basically said he was done working on the map and i could do whatever i wanted, i havent seen him in over a year so that's the best i can do for you lanth

I've deleted the file from the DLDB. As Lanth mentioned, SEN isn't a fan of unprotecting maps without permission. If you really do have permission, that's fine, but don't then spread the unprotected map. If you find someone to help you, PM them the map instead (again, supposing you really do have permission).

I'm pretty good so I put a debug display text trigger on each trigger of the search->generate item->item chain and tried to break the cars, it was breaking during the item generation and since the "randomization" takes place before the player ever searches and since the items are generated on a per randomization/inventory space basis that means a certain combo was either not accounted for (and thus wasnt rerolling the next item or giving an item in the first place) or in some other way breaking the randomization. I just put a physical randomization "fix" in the map and it fixed it, there were a few other bugs that that helped for so i basically just made the randomization fix all the player action bugs. There's probably still a bunch of mission bugs (I've seen a bunch).
