RPG, DnD, Trigger Happy Defence, and any map that's pure awesome and/or takes mad skill/strategy.

I'll have to admit though, the genres that are simply much better done on WC3, I would personally rather be on WC3 playing WC3 maps. Such as attack and defend, rpg, DotA (Duh), etc...

Warcraft has the potential for great maps, but Starcraft has the mappers.

if SC mappers were so great, they would of arisen to the challenge of the WC3 editor, but barely any have, thus meaning that we are the lazy mappers that arn't willing to learn a different set up of mapping.

Yeah I omitted a few big ones like bounds, RPGs, and several others. I'm trying to find which of those selections people prefer.

I'm gonna use it for something... awesome! :bye1:

An RPG that you can BOUND in to get upgrades and crap?!?!?!?! OR, THE WHOLE RPG IS A BOUND. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

I also like bounds and RPGs. Bounds the most. Nexus D is probably my favorite game but that doesn't fall into a category really... I like defenses too, I used to play madnesses but now I realize how gay they are. Lol.

I'm more into the whole stratergy type game, defending, attacking, defending attacking.. civilisations, anything that takes more then just plain massing back and forth and doesn't have unlimited reasources lol.

(From page 1(never answered)) Yeah, wth is Vanilla Melee? Not to be a smartass but is there a Chocolate Melee?

Vanilla is normal SC, without BroodWar, so I guess you can call BW Melee Chocolate Melee :P

Defenses are way too repetitive for me .. although sometimes they're ok when they're short but challenging. Some of my favorites would include Chicken Defense or Shade Defense but otherwise .. I don't really wanna spend an hour watching streams of characters go down the same path over and over and just watching my units mow them down.
I don't see what's so appealing about them.
That's why I voted for LotRish, when there's always different players you can play against there are always different strategies, play styles, and ways to get opd.
Oh, and I also like zombie(survival horror) maps which in a way, might fall under rpg.

RPs aren't up there for a reason. =D

I voted Vanilla Melee, because I really like playing Melee. I don't UMS very much anymore. Hell, I don't even know what I'm doing on a map making site. I barely even try to make maps, but when I do I end up never finishing them.

But Blacklight, that idea for an RPG where you have to bound sounds pretty sweet. =P

Heh... its called Creep Colonies.

Its true... I can't beat shocko 0.o... I also voted CnM... Tuxlar needs to make a godly CnM.... that would be awsome :D

I like AOS/DotA-style maps, probably because I play DotA, but my next choice would be defenses.

Personally, I really like bounds, but since that wasn't on the list, I chose defense games. They allow for a lot of innovation and part of the fun and replay value is the ability to try out new set-ups. That probably explains my obsession with sunken defense. So many design, so little time. But a rigged/cheatable map kind of defeats the purpose and makes games boring. So defense games, but only if they allow innovation.

EDIT: Fixed my post so it actually makes sense. :><:

RPGs always.
And what the hell is vanilla melee?
you shouldn't ask this on a mapmaker's colony, but on b.net itself.
Mapmakers have a taste that differs from that which is common.
For example: Most mapmakers think madnesses are total crap.

Yeah, I agree with Zergblender, if you want people to play your map, don't ask map makers what they prefer, I mean, think about it, maps that are complete jokes to map makers are by-far the most popular, and while the pubbies often enjoy playing the maps we do, they don't host them often for some reason.
