For some reason when someone dies (Only tested with terran ghost) the blood splatter is pretty much instantly removed. Why is this? lol

Giving some context or a map could help.
Could it have something to do with the sprite limit? I actually have no clue; just taking a guess here.

Probably sprite limit. Do you have many fires and/or units and/or preplaced sprites?
Its the sprite limit. Each unit is comprised of a number of sprites; I think it was Merrel that did testing on this, but if you have a map with a shitload of pylons (9 sprites per pylon I think) and archons (like 14 sprites or something), then the unit sprite limit (5000) gets reached and units will start losing their sprites, you can end up with archons with no glow, for example. Since starcraft is so old blizzard implemented the sprite limit because of performance issues.

How the fuck do those use so many sprites? The archon only has 3 components: body, halo and orbiting particles. Maybe two more for the attack. I don't even know about the pylon.

He's referring to burning pylons. The fire is many sprites overlayed.
No. They're images, not sprites. It... Does matter. ...A sprite can contain multiple images, via the imgol command and similar in iscript. The image limit is much higher than the sprite limit for this reason, but still not infinite. Now, running out of images and running out of sprites do have similar effects; however, running out of images has more effects than running out of sprites.
